Shirt: the Mars Volta - Tarantuwoman
Color:  Red
Brand: M&O
Source: As i was in physical Therapy today for my shoulder.  this woman who came to work me through my exercises started making idle chit chat with me and then all of a sudden looked at my shirt and freaked out.  so much so that she decided to stand behind me and then when she walked around put her hand in front of her face to block out the image.
So i asked her, what was the deal, you don;t like the Mars Volta that much?
she said who?
I said Mars Volta…
She replied um i dunno, i just hate spiders.
then i said oh, good, cause i thought you might have been offended by the naked woman,
what naked woman she said?

Shirt: Robert Plant - Manic Nirvana

Color:  White

Brand: Tag Missing

Source: (Yesterday)  Iva had this shirt for a while now. i really love me some Led Zeppelin but I’m always amazed at how Robert Plant could make solo albums that were so horrible after Led Zep.  i don’t blame him tho, i blame the 80’s/90’s it was a weird time and there was a lot of pressure to create weird Robert Palmer sounding albums.  I give him credit tho, later on in the later 2000’s and now he started making good music again i think he finally just came around to making it more naturally then trying to make something happen.

I do think however and why i own this shirt is not only cause well, he WAS in Led Zeppelin so he got creed points stored up for decades, but the i really did the cover art on this album. its one of those things where i wish the album was as good as the cover art.  sadly it wasn’t, but hey we will always have this shirt. listen below for yourself.

Day: 1158
Shirt: Gorillaz - Skull
Color:  Black
Brand: Gorillaz
Source: (from Yesterday) I was just thinking to myself how good this record was, Demon Days.  Great pop album with some great guests and production.  i love this record.  I mean to be honest i think i love Gorillaz a lot more than i think.  they are a  lot like Blur in the way that every album is great but then there are like 2-3 epic jams on each one.  someday there will be a greatest hits like the Blur album
that is unstoppable front to back. its pretty impressive how many slam dunk songs Damon Albarn has written.  and imagine if the Good the Bad and the Queen was a Gorillaz album too.  dayum.  Whoa i just had a thought.  what if there was a Damon Albarn GH album.  that would be pretty fucking good.  id buy that.
until that happens listen to Demon Days and remember back just how good it was.  this shirt incidentally a promo from my days working at Capitol.  a serious keeper for me of some fun good days.

Shirt: They Might be Giants - Don’t Let’s Start

Color:  White

Brand: Brockum

Source: believe it or not this band was kinda punk at point point.  or quasi punk.  this kind of music, like Devo was a total foray into punk for me.  It was unique, fast, different, and most people didn’t like or know about it. it was def a secret.  even more secret if you knew the dial up number you could call and they would play a song on it for you.  everything they did was super cool.  eventually they would start to fade out but then find an entire new audience.  kids.  kids music that was totally tolerable to adults.  kinda fucking genius to play to the people who used to listen to you but now had kids who liked you. find the common ground between adult and kid.

these first two TMBG albums tho were / are still so unique and well written there is not a whole lot like it in the world and will always remain very TMBG.

Day: 1155
Shirt: Ink & Dagger - Philadelphia Society Of Future Vampires
Color:  Red
Brand: Jerzees
Source: never really contemplated Ink & Dagger as as Vampire rock but i guess it kinda makes sense.  frequently referred to on the once famous buddy head site i always used to hear about them in the same breath and Icarus Line.  then i remember early 2000s when the singer was found dead apparently i believe what i heard was OD’s on pills and drinking.
Ink & Dagger seemed to have a short but powerful career.  coming in and stomping there brand and then seeming to have left as quickly as they came.  I remember one live show, which was incredible but then it was gone.

Shirt: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - B.R.M.C.

Color:  Black

Brand: All Sport

Source: Speaking of epic debut albums, this band really killed it with their  2000 release of “BRMC.”  such a great solid rock n roll album in a time where it was a little scarce to have a good rock album about. later i think they would star a rock a roll comeback for other bands to ride the coat tails for bands like Wolfmother to ride on. the 2000’s were a weird time in music.  a lot of old bands were falling off the map,  while a lot of younger bands were getting recognition and climbing up.  Primal Scream was releasing XTRMNTR, Modest Mouse was releasing Good News.  Grandaddy Software Slump.  and i think 3-6 Mafia was big then too.  i dunno.  thank god for bands like BRMC who decide they want to put out albums like this in times when music can really use it.

Day: 1153
Shirt: Unwritten Law - Letters
Color:  Yellow
Brand: Jerzeez
Source: Once upon a time a stumbled upon this band from a compilation.  I believe it was a compilation called bunco Sucks with a lil baby on the front.

yeah thats it.  liberation records.  it was pretty amazing for the time.  that is where i first heard Blink as well.  aside form Sublime it was a really solid comp of a lot of Southern California bands i wasn’t able to see at the time cause i lived in Northern California and didn’t know the scene down there at all.  shit i was shut learning what my own scene was like.  but this comp came out and it was great song after great song, and allowed me to discover so many other bands.  bands like Unwritten Law.
Punk Sucks by Minor Thread on Grooveshark

So i went out and bought this debut album form this band, and it was really good.  at the time it was some of th best solid pop punk i had heard in a long time. it was punk and still had lots of harmonies.  to me it was as if Pennywise was less bro and more eMO. the album got a lot of play from me.  then a long pause came and the band put a new CD that didn’t capture any of the energy of the debut.  not even close.  then late they just seemed to dwindle and dwindle and i don’t hear much from them anymore. but man this first album was good. Shirt: …And You Will Know us By The Trail Of The Dead - Life’s Boring.  I Hate It
Color:  White
Brand: All Sport
Source: watched this band break a lot of shit over the years.  its funny when your band is famous for wrecking the house kinda.  i mean clearly they are famous of for more.  but the live show is what they really cut their teeth on.  they rose up  through the ranks over the years and played may a good show but my favorite and first was them at SXSW i wanna say early 2000’s?  it was Thrice and them at Red Eye Fly in Austin, way before SXSW was a gross circus side show, it was about watching bands only.  anyways the band ended up trashing the place so bad and getting thrown out of their own show.  but i guess that it was what it took back in the day to get the entire city buzzing about what happened last night.  that same trip i believe Icarus line was playing a hard rock or something like that and Aaron broke a Stevie Ray faugh guitar out of a case on the wall and plugged it in and started playing it.  the cops would be searching for them the entire week.  fucking great times.
