Shirt: the Smiths - Ask German 12” (Reproduction)
Source: I look at lots of T-shirts on the internets. lots. i always have this sad sigh pop out of my chest every time i see some bootleg shirt that not only looks horrible but really had zero thought put into it. i guess to make a dollar that was the thought. maybe I’m just being too personal cause this is coming form a guy who literally 20% of the time he is listing to music it is the Smiths or Morrissey.
so I was thinking of great sleeves that would make great album covers and this one came into mind in particular. the German 12” version of “Ask.”
its nice right? a slightly different L shaped logo unique to this sleeve, and it just stood out. normally most of you saw this:
which i was going to make as well and thought it would be cool to pick whichever country your was from but it was too expensive at the printer. so i only made this one.
for some reason the sleeve was changed in Germany later to this cover of Colin Campbell:
but i really hate square album art that gets cut off and doesn’t really lend it self well to shirt art. see pet peeve above.
So why did it get made? i dunno, cause i though tit would look good and deserved it i guess. you know sometimes you don’t want to let things die away without showing it the respect it deserves. I’m trying to do that one smiths shirt at a time.
