Source: Those of you that know who the Drunk Injuns are do not need me to tell you how epic this shirt find is.  you know.  You know the impact this record had on your lives, and how this band and a handful of others pretty much invented Skate Rock.

I recently negotiated this dead stock shirt out of the hands of the singer and long time Thrasher Photographer him self, MoFo.  he said they only made a dozen or so back in the day, Thrasher printed them for him.  I have never seen one myself and was contemplating making one because i wanted one so badly.  

Why?  because i grew up listening to Thrasher Skate Rock tapes.  and Beware records.  how could you not, they got them in every sake video, it was programed in my brain.  Odd Man Out, McRad, JFA, Faction….You either got it or you didn’t i guess.  None of these albums are in print anymore, so you either have the cassette version or the LP.  If you had the cassette it sounds horrible cause it has been played over and over and over till the tape sounds like it has been cleaned with a rock.  

I don’t know what else to say..  this band means a lot to me. They used to cover a Joy Division song.  It wasn’t until a few years later that i learned it was a cover and i was spinning, this whole time i thought it was a Drunk Injuns song.  they did it so well, that i think a lot of why i love Joy Division is  because of them. 

So stoked on this shirt i will stop going on about it, but its fucking epic.

Shirt: Billy Idol - Rude Dude

Source: Real Talk.  before i was ever into punk rock i was a big billy idol fan.  i could even do the famous lip move and i had the fist turning pumping thing down to a science.  

I was young and impressionable, what can i say.  But i felt his shit, i was seriously into it.  a few years later i was at a friends house (way punker dude than i) and he was playing Billy Idol and i was kinda stoked to know that he shared the same interest as me, thinking i might have a shred of cool in me.  turns out i was wrong.  I picked up the album and said, oh i though this was Billy Idol for a second, not some random british punk band. It was Generaton X.  

Having no clue in the world that Billy Idol ever existed on any plane other than himself was news to me.  super Psyched to find out he was though, some how it kind of turned the tables for my perspective on music back then.  Kinda like being a Glen Frey fan and finding out that shit, there is a band called the Eagles?? Now i know that would never happen, I’m just saying.  this scenarios i went through is a little more believable.

So I went out and bought a few Gen X records and fell in love.  well not fell in love but you know what i mean…it is 1982 and im what..9?  so maybe i have no idea what love is, but lets say for the sake of this post, i identified with them a lot.  I’ve never really thought about it now but this might have been my very first punk rock influence.  Its funny how much i learn about myself typing out this dumb blog everyday.   so i guess i owe you a thank you Billy Idol.  not that you prolly care too much..but i appreciate it.  keep on keeping on buddy.  hope to see you in wedding singer 2!

Day: 671 Shirt: Pure Love - Pure Love Color: White Brand: Gilden Source: not sure if this record is even out here yet or not, i mean it must be it is on spotify, so that counts as “out” right?  If you are not familiar, Pure Love is the band that the original singer of GALLOWS started.  My friend , part time Piebald member and fellow shirt enthusiast Jim Carroll is in it as well.  so a i tip my hat to you gentlemen and god luck to your new endeavor.   I also didn’t have any clever mothers day themed shirts in the arsenal so i figured this one would also do.  Pure Love, i think we all have it for our mom’s right?  so this ones for you  bearers of children.  Happy Mothers Day and nothing but PURE LOVE  for you all

Source: I spent the entire part of my life thinking the front image was a cat.  i don’t know why i just assumed it.  Until yesterday when Bob from Big Drill Car himself politely told be PS this is a dog, a devil Dog.  mind blown i guess.  not really blown, but hey an interesting fact none the less, especially if you are a BDC fan like myself.  Long Live BDC!

Shirt: Monsula - Lyric Shirt

Source: I bought this off eBay a while a go and i m pretty sure it is a bootleg, or handmade shirt i don’t really care.  maybe it isn’t.  but if it is, someone cared enough to craft this with lyrics on it and really cared about this band.  so its still cool in that respect.  i was a big Monsula fan back in the day, great energy, sickest bass lines, very similar to early Rancid.  I got to see them play with every band i really loved so i grew to really appreciate them.  last time i saw them i think it was in Petaluma opening up for Green Day And NOFX? IM pretty sure that was it.  if anyone else can confirm let me know.

Shirt: Dag Nasty - Field Day Tour 1988 (Replica)

Source: Ironic that this might be my least fav era of Dag Nasty yet i hold it so coveted.  Its like there is no BAD dag, only lesser great.  Part of my liking this record less is the recording/mixing of the album, it is very weird and never felt right.  this is one record that can stand from a good reissue treatment.  especially since this record specifically isn’t available on most internet media sites.

I wish the band would have taken mer more seriously on making this show happen.  i would have really enjoyed that…

Source: Taking in this Sunday and just enjoying how the late 90’s graced us with some of the uglier clothing colors.  lots of earth tones, flat gross shirt.  but i guess it beats Hypercolor or Neon colors.  Shit. I just thought of something..neon seems to be coming back, i hope to shit that these earth tones don’t come back next..

Day: 653 Shirt: Fear - More Beer Color: Red Brand: Startee Source: Lee Vhing has undoubtedly one of the most iconic voices in punk rock.  It rings so distinct that when you hear it, even 30 years later it still sounds unique.  I really loved Fear as a youth, and now with one exception the dude is really misogynist.  He must have had some mother issues cause damn if he has some anger all up in him about it.   Maybe you can blame part of it on the era (86) and Regan and all that but i doubt it.  I cant imagine he had many women at his shows either.  but ill be damed if that MoFo cant sing.  i just wish he would sing something more that bad mouthing chicks and drinking beer.  I sound like i may the this album but i don’t , contrary i really love it, just maybe the older i get the more i hear that i just don’t relate to any more (thankfully)

Source: Lee Vhing has undoubtedly one of the most iconic voices in punk rock.  It rings so distinct that when you hear it, even 30 years later it still sounds unique.  I really loved Fear as a youth, and now with one exception the dude is really misogynist.  He must have had some mother issues cause damn if he has some anger all up in him about it.  

Maybe you can blame part of it on the era (86) and Regan and all that but i doubt it.  I cant imagine he had many women at his shows either.  but ill be damed if that MoFo cant sing.  i just wish he would sing something more that bad mouthing chicks and drinking beer.  I sound like i may the this album but i don’t , contrary i really love it, just maybe the older i get the more i hear that i just don’t relate to any more (thankfully)
