Day: 997Shirt: Cloud Nothings - Here and Nowhere Else Pre-OrderColor:  TanBrand: American Apparel 50/50
Source:  you probably think that coming this close to 1,000 shirt posts i would be posting nothing but amazing bangers right about now, right?  Shit.  I love music, not just old music but surprisingly new music too.  a lot actually.  very seldomly comes a band that i love and i totally feel.  Cloud nothings is one of them.  i enjoy them right up next to a good Jawbreaker Bivouac, or a Descendents I don’t Wanna Grow Up.  So this shirt is really just as important to me as the uber vintage Misfits shirt or the Rare Black Flag Tour T.  i mean don’t get me wrong those shirts awe epic but if you tried to by either any of these shirts including the one today off me the answer would still be no.
I get psyched when bands like Big Ups, Cloud nothings, Waaves, Teenage Bottlerocket, Joyce Manor, Japandroids and Fidlar are still able to make good punk rock music.  it gives me hope that in the near future despite how many Justing Beibers there are there will always be a Cloud nothings for those who want it.

Day: 996Shirt: Alkaline Trio - Girl & GoatColor:  BlackBrand: Delta
Source:  since the 1K day is coming down the pipeline i find it increasingly hard to put on a shirt in the morning.  a relatively easy task for most people i know.  its just that now i feel this immense pressure to blow your mind or something.  then i stop to think to myself, who gives a shit.  yes i know some of you do but my point being is that this site has never been for anyone but myself, and really i am the only one here i need to impress or please.  I mean i want to get as diverse as possible, expose people to new things, designs, art and bands but I’m the dude wearing this shirt and writing this post, so i guess i need to be #1 in this scenario.  which brings me to this shirt by Alkaline Trio.
I tried to explain to a friend the either day about Alkaline trio and I just don’t think they got it.  To me its a band that i find i equate with certain feelings so i get when people don’t get it.  you either lived through this era of music and appreciated it or you completely missed it and it will never fall into place for you.
I Listened to this band a lot as they were making music, for every new record there was anticipation and excitement.  then they signed to Vagrant and that was even more exciting, then to a Major, then back to an indie (Epitaph).  through all that i have always appreciated their songs and their influence and contribution to punk music.  Matt through his ups and his downs has always been punk as fuck and i respect that about him and its one of the things i look forward to in his songwriting is his honesty in that life.  so yeah today i went with Trio.  why because its just something I’m thankful for today.

Day: 995
Shirt: SNFU - Open Up Your Mouth And say…
Color:  Black
Brand: Oneita Power T

Source:  ok caught up.  yeah you might ask yourself..have I seen this one before? the answer is yes, technically, but this one is slightly different, it has a back print.  and to be honest i would buy every version of this shirt so much it makes me so happy.  i love this design and it immediately flashing me back to sitting in a parking lot doing slap pies drinking Big-Gulps and learning about music through whatever mix tapes were being played on the portable stereo that day.  SNFU was always on repeat.  doesn’t get any better than that.

Day: 992Shirt: Rocket from the Crypt - Fork DesignColor:  BlackBrand: Oneita Power 50
Source:  this if for all my friends in LA who get to see RFTC tonight without me.  seeing as how i was dumb and double book a trip on the same day as this show that i bought tickets to 4 months ago.  oh well.  i will just assume it will be awesome and just hope its not more awesome than the last time i saw  them.  perhaps it wasn’t meant to be and its a sign to hold out for the Drive like Jehu tour:)

Shirt: Helios Creed - Michael Manning Bug Design
Color:  Homemade Pink The Dye
Brand: Oneita Power 50

Source:  Trip out…its hard to think that i am 10 shirts away from 1000.  thats a lot.  to wear and wrap your head around too.  Anywase..

I belive i have mentione on more than one occasion the influence a certain compilation has had on my life , called the Big One

One side was bands form Northern Ca, and the flip side was Southern California bands.  Both sides phenomenal.  I wish i had a shirt for every band on here but i don’t.  still in search of that elusive Steel Pole Bathtub shirt.  Oh but i will…oh yes i will.  So Helios Creed was def one of the bands i picked up off this comp.  whilst i wasn’t able to appreciate them in 1990 and most other Am Rep bands, i later in life learned to thoroughly enjoy them later in life.  it took more of an open mind and more thinking to be involved.  also did help that you listen to the same time a music for  along period of time you start to crave something new, something a little more adventurous and interesting.  if you have never listened to or owned this comp i can’t stress getting it enough.  a really great influential comp that samples an amazing point in musical history.  My hat goes off to whomever put it together and curated it.  well done.

here ill make it even easier for you. $12.00 on eBay…here is the link.  or click the photo.  save this piece of vinyl. and give it the respect it deserves.

Enjoy.

Day: 986Shirt: Bad Brains - Quickness (Bootleg)Color:  TanBrand: Gilden Ultra Cotton
Source:  While on my Trip to TX i read a lot of the “Our Band Could Be Your Life" book.  Highly recommend it for anyone who hasn’t read it but loves punk rock.  small little biographies on some of the best bands ever.
Anyways during the Minor Threat Chapter i was reading this section where Minor Threat had all but broken up and Ian sees HR at a show and says this:
"Ian, man there’s kids from all over the country who want to know!  You can’t just come out with songs like ‘Straight Edge’ and then not follow up.  You have to get it together cause they want to see you, they want to know"
So after that converstion Minor Threat gets back together and record the Out Of Step 12”
The amazing part about this is that is HR approached him at any other time in his life no one would have payed him any attention. he seems so off his rocker now.  but my point being is that there was one point in his life where he made perfect sense and talked Ian into getting Minor Threat back together.  just amazes me.
no this shirt isn’t original its a bootleg i found in Japan but i love this album so much i wasn’t going to not get it.

Day: 983
Shirt: Drive Like Jehu - Duct Tape Headhunter Version
Color:  Black
Brand: Fruit of The Loom

Source:  such a great shirt, epic label.  so nice.  this here is such a good piece of history.  part of what i love about this blog …i know I’ve said it before but the history. the archival process.  you now know this shirt exists, what it looked like what kind of shirt it was printed on etc.

Anyone that didn’t know this label or didn’t get into its crake..should do so ASAP.  so many good bands.  such a great scene and a slice of time/history in music.

I can’t find anywhere online but there is a great comp called Head Start To Purgatory  it has Fishwife, Rocket From the Crypt, 411, Drive Like Jehu, Olivelawn..fuck i love Olivelawn, Drip Tank and Crash Worship.  all fucking great music and if you ever find the comp in a record store bin, buy it.  it looks like this

Oh wait You Tube, i always forget thats how people listen to music now…the dumbest method ever but whatever floats your boat people.

Day: 981Shirt: Unwound - Light & ArrowColor:  WhiteBrand: Jerzees
Source:  you know how hard it is to find a good Unwound shirt?  You don’t but i’ll guess you don’t give a shit either and thats why you don’t know.  Unwound is that band that is a secret but not, if you meet someone you know that loves them you have a connection.  intently.  if you meet someone who doesn’t know i always skip the part where i try to tell them and just move on and let it go.
Unwound was on e of them bands i felt that was way more comfortable in the uncomfortable spot.  venues seemed like the last place they would choose to play over say a warehouse, or a gallery or skateramp.  you know what i mean?  perhaps the band was as untraditional as their music in that respect.  i only got to see them once i think, that i can remember  with Clikatat Ikatowi but chances are i probably saw that Gilman at some point before i even knew who the fuck they were.  in any case i’ve tried to hunt down an original tour shirt for ages and finally found this one a while back.  i feel like such a small victory has been made.  the Archivist in me is really psyched.
