Shirt: the Smiths - Ask German 12” (Reproduction)
Color:  Black
Brand: Tultex
Source:  I look at lots of T-shirts on the internets.  lots.  i always have this sad sigh pop out of my chest every time i see some bootleg shirt that not only looks horrible but really had zero thought put into it.  i guess to make a dollar that was the thought.  maybe I’m just being too personal cause this is coming form a guy who literally 20% of the time he is listing to music it is the Smiths or Morrissey.
so I was thinking of great sleeves that would make great album covers and this one came into mind in particular.  the German 12” version of “Ask.”
its nice right?  a slightly different L shaped logo unique to this sleeve, and it just stood out.  normally most of you saw this:

which i was going to make as well and thought it would be cool to pick whichever country your was from but it was too expensive at the printer.  so i only made this one.
for some reason the sleeve was changed in Germany later to  this cover of Colin Campbell:

but i really hate square album art that gets cut off and doesn’t really lend it self well to shirt art.  see pet peeve above.
So why did it get made?  i dunno, cause i though tit would look good and deserved it i guess.  you know sometimes you don’t want to let things die away without showing it the respect it deserves.  I’m trying to do that one smiths shirt at a time.

Shirt: Morrissey - World Peace Is None Of Your Business
Color:  Black
Brand: Tultex
Source:  So i got my Moz pre order shirt this week for the new album.  from a dude who has a merch problem i gotta say i was slightly disappointed.  its just not a very good looking design / print job.  so many options that could have been and yet this poorly printed album cover is the design they go with.  Poor Moz looks like he has a case of Jaundice like his live has been failing for 6 months, he is yellow and just not good looking.
I guess i just don’t understand why you would make this if you know it can’t be printed properly.  I’ve taken a picture so you can see a close up (Click the image to enlarge)

you will see its not horrible, its just not quality you expect from a life long career of great art / design.  i duont know why I’m bitching really i think maybe cause when i make something i take a lot of care and pride in the details and feel disappointed when you (i) are producing better quality merch than the artist themselves.  who knows.  i guess i am really happy the Moz man is still around giving me music and merch to enjoy so i should just shut the fuck up.  stoked there is a new album and i hope more future shows for you to cancel.

Shirt: the Smiths - the Queen Is Dead

Color:  Heather Grey

Brand: Screen Stars Best

Source:  most likely i believe this to be a bootleg, but its on a quality vintage shirt, its a good print and i got it form a good dude who has as much admiration for the Smiths as i do.  So regardless of its originality i am down with this shirt 100% anyways.  not to mention that this album is so good and has so many Hammers on it, its not even funny.  Some Girls, Bigmouth, There’s A Light, Boy With the Thorn….id go so far as to say there are no bad songs on there.  its really a perfect album.  hmmm… thanks Smiths.  its no joke.  and if it was a joke it certainly would not be funny anymore.

Day: 1067
Shirt: the Smiths - Hatful Of Hollow
Color:  Baby Blue
Brand: Alstyle
Source:  I made this shirt a few weeks back.  why you ask?  cause i get so bummed when i see someone who puts it up for sale at their vintage store without even knowing where it came from at ridiculous prices that they deem ok.  $250! $400, $500 Sure why not?  cause no shirt is fucking worth 500 dollars.  and it just bugs me that it is mostly driven by greed.  now don’t get me wrong if your shirt is that valuable and someone is willing to pay for it go ahead and post it up at an auction and see what it goes for.  its called Market Value.  meaning simply that your object is worth exactly whatever someone will pay for it at any given time.
instead people like the above picture are asking $300+ for it praying on the idea that you might never see it again.  what if…  Its what drives me to remake e shirt i guess.  its not like these people LOVE the smiths.  they just LOVE money.  and there is nothing wrong with that i suppose, its just not what inspires me.  i don’t want to give this person more money so they go out and out bid me on shirts only to mark them up and set them on their websites till some fool bites.  Ill just make it myself, sell a few to other people who had the shirt at one time and could never afford to replace it, or to that one fan who always wanted it but it was always out of financial reach.

Shirt: Morrissey - The Finger Point 2014 Tour
Color:  Royal Blue
Brand: Gilden Softstyle
Source:  this is some Elvis shirt right here huh?  I really love this dude and his ability to keep it cool in his late 50’s (55 to be exact) i think he is the same age as my mom.  but can you imagine this fool being your dad?  keep you on your toes for sure your game would have to be tight.  ”oh son, you are going to leave the house in that shirt?”  yeah… i didn’t think so.  ”Hey dad remember that time you wrote How Son Is Now, that was cool huh?”
a person can dream.  but maybe for those of you that are parents it will make you rethink your game.  who knows maybe the Mozzer should write a parenting book.  also here is a pic from truetoyou.net of the 2014 Tour Merch in case any of you are headed out to see the tour provided he doesn’t cancel.

also here is the new sinle you can listen to if you wanna gear up to get down.

Source: this is actually a remake of a remake i didm many years ago and have come a long way since then so i made the shirt right this time.  the one above is a one off i printed on a different color shirt to test out how it would look. its ok, i don’t love it but i find i have so many White and Black shirts its nice to change it up a bit.

this one above is one i wore on day #045  it was band pantone matching, the shapes were off.  the print was sarong size.  it was just sloppy.  i have learned a long since then and feel like the new one is much nicer.

Shirt: Morrissey - Moz Angeles
Color:  White
Brand: Fruit Of the Loom Heavy

Source:  So today according to one Wiki Entry is the 20th anniversary of Vauxhall & I but according to another it was last week.  i can only chalk this up to release dates staggered in different countries.  so i will just assume it is today and leave it at that.   Either Way it was this week so praise the almighty Moz, unite and move on.

Vauxhaull is this great album for people but ill be honest, it is on the bottom of the list for Moz albums for me.  that sounds like it is a bad album in my opinion but no, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. tis just that i like other albums way more.  like if i was stranded on a desert island it wouldn’t be the first Moz album id reach for.  crazily enough my fav album is one that i think people like least which is Southpaw Grammar.  i love how dark that record gets, i love the production and the sounds on it.  but thats me.  I’m sure many people disagree and i’m also sure depending on what Morriseey album you picked up first your opinion will be different.  we can all agree that all his albums are good tho I’m sure.  just different rankings of good.

I also need to iron my shirts or let them sit so they are obviously not pulled right off the shelve with fold marks on them too.  dang I’m a slog.  Morrissey would not be proud.

Day: 896Shirt: the Smiths - I Started Something I Couldn’t FinishColor:  Olive GreenBrand: American Apparel Power WashedSource: #3 in the series of 5 Smiths shirts i made this month.  it was originally supposed to be a shirt for every single off of my favorite Smiths album Strangeways.. got kaiboshed cause i couldn’t find good art for “Last Night I dreamt” and Stop Me just looked silly.  I was going to add Sheila Take a Bow too since it would have been close to that era..but blah bah..turned into what it was.
I really love tho song tho, it is the one that always gets me when i listen to the record, i don’t know why but it instantly transports me to my high school Jr year driving around my Orange 1970 VW fastback with this cassette in the player.  I’m not sure i will ever have such vivid memories of an music association again in my life, and i think when i am 70 i will still look upon it just as fondly.  that old VW smell, the morning light driving my self to school, and this song playing…
this shirt is only 1 of 2  i made these on American Apparel Power Washed t’s cause i was bummed that Tultex didn’t make a green shirt so i had to make it on black, but i wanted a green that would match the single cover

cause i am stickler like that.  this was as close as i could come with out doing some sort of dying to achieve this color.  since i am not prepared to do bulk shirt dying you got what you got.  the other was for my wife who decided it was to big so it then got given to my friends girlfriend who i hope is appreciating it like it deserves.  it looks beautiful.  almost as beautiful as the song itself.
for those of you nerds that are a level 5 like i am here are the three version that got printed.

and the one you see above.  still for sale if you care / are crazy like i am.

Day: 889Shirt: the Smiths - Sheila take A Bow (Reproduction)Color:  RedBrand: TultexSource: fun fact.  Sheila was the first Smiths song i ever heard.  see when buying tapes as a kid i went for my moneys worth.  Louder Than Bombs  really gave you more bang for your buck, there must have been way over 20 songs on that thing and i was no rich mofo.  Meat Is Murder only had like 9, the choice was simple.  i bought in bulk.

I don’t think it was until 10-15 years later that i learned that this record was all b-sides and singles.  that is when i realized how good this band was.  every their throwaway tracks killed it.  there was no garbage.  only songs that were slightly less amazing.
that is part of why this shirt made it into the batch i made cause this design was important to me, and i wanted to have one to wear for the remainder of my simple life.  a reminder to me of when i discovered on of my favorite bands of my life.

Oh yes if you wanna buy one of these why they exist there are for sale here at www.Vltded.bigcartel.com
