Day: 1190

Shirt: Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod

Color:  White

Brand: Brockum

Source: caught up to todays shirt finally.  the Ministy song was my favorite but i think mostly because it had Gibby form Butthole Surfers on it.  you can hear him so clear on it it is light night and day.  Al Jorgensen did know how to team up with good musicians.  thats for sure.  this song and Pailhead are my two favorite things he has ever done.  Jesus Built My Hotrod by Ministry on Grooveshark

Day: 1188

Shirt: Iron Maiden - The Trooper

Color:  Black

Brand: Hanes heavyweight

Source: (from Sat) sorry I’m lagging here.  I’m trying to be a trooper about it (see what i did there.  in pain and still got it :)  ok it was not that funny but my shit hurts.  i have no use of my rt arm at all cause my collar bone is broken and my hand it broken so it makes it difficult to maintain any decent typing on here.  my goal, for the time being is to just stay as current as possible and in the meantime the stories will have to suffer a bit.  but there pictures will move along.  the journey will continue.

Day: 1184
Shirt: High On Fire - Death is This Communion
Color:  Black
Brand: Tennessee River
Source: through a backwards way today i was listening to some guitar heavy music and looking at illustrations and i was reminded of High On Fire.  by way of illustrator Arik Roper, who did a few of their album covers as well as the new Sleep album cover which i am a big fan of.

but i believe i have mad myself clear on here about how much i love Frank Frazetta inspires mythical artwork of gnomes, forests and creatures.  its truly a weird culture of art that i full get into.  perhaps its the 7th grader in my that has my Dungeons and Dragons guides and pads of paper mapping out the mythical properties of creatures that only exist in 23 sided dice math equations.  i often think that most doom and sludge inspired music has a little bit of D&D at the root of it all.  anyhow.  its not too often i adopt new Metal bands these days cause either I’m getting too old or i just don’t think there are that many new ones that even touch the classics, so why bother.  High on Fire was an exception tho.  it gave me something different and like any good metal band should, it infused great music with great art and visuals that combined to make a whole package.  i would later realize that this band was fronted by Sleep frontman Matt Pike and then it would all kinda make sense to me.  honestly tho, i prefer to enjoy a band with out knowing stuff like that because it just make me realize that i liked it for what it delivered and not the story behind what it is.  does that make sense?  its like when someone plays you music and you are like “meh, whatever” then they say some shit like dude! the singers parents were murdered by Charles Manson and he gee up in a haunted orphanage with amputated arms and wrote this album with his foot!  while that is a cool story in all it really shouldn’t be a factor in whether an album is good or not.  id rather listen to an album first and think, damn this is fucking good, and dark then find out some guy wrote it all with his foot and then be extra hyped on it.  but thats me.  and this is a blog that is all really my opinion so what do you expect?  you do your thing, if it works for you, go fer it.  i got mine.
Regardless this album is fucking good, and if you like a good heavy Metal album in your day and liked Sleep, get your self some below.

Day: 1130

Shirt: Queens Of the Stone Age - Ignoring The Worlds Problems Since 1998 Tour

Color:  Black

Brand: Cygnus

Source: After this band really nailing it on Rated R only a few years later they released Songs For The Deaf, a record that was so damn good it was impossible not to like.  i feel like from song 1 it grabbed you by the face and got your attention.   Sure having Dave Grohl sit in on Drums didn’t hurt either.  but man this album is fucking good, its one of those albums that have to be listened to as loud as possible in order to get the full effect of it.  and it was just a great example of what a good songwriter and arranger Josh Homme was…er i mean IS.  I think when people Idolize Lemmy for being an embodiment of Rock N Roll i kinda laugh.  yeah that dude is punk and lives the lifestyle but i could use a few more good songs out of him first before i go putting up a statue.

Homme is like a combination of Lemmy, Page and Elvis all rolled up into one.  the punkness of Lemmy , the swagger and song writing skills of Elvis and the chops of Jimmy Page.  i dare you to debate this.  I  feel quite certain i will buy every QOTSA album if he keep smacking them.  I haven’t heard a bad one yet..and you all know how i feel about his last album which i think is the best album he has ever made to date.
