Day: 942
Shirt: Dio - Sacred Heart Tour 1985
Color:  Black
Brand: Hanes 100% Cotton
Source:  I have wanted a good Dio shirt for as long as i have been listening to music.  i had always been hoping to find some amazing Holy Diver tour shirt but it never seemed to happen, so Sacred Heart was a solid second. the real selling point however was that it came from the collection of Rocket from the Crypt, OFF!, Earthless, Hot Snakes, 411 Drummer and ex Alva pro skateboarder Mario Rubalcaba.

Not only was he kind of the first skateboarder too with to music he was really one of my favorite drummers of my era.  he kills it, plays it amazing bands and always has that vibe of a punk rock kid who grew up and got lucky and found his dream job.  so when he started to put his shirt collection up on eBay cause as he says “his burrito, Del Taco and pizza addition” is making it impossible for him to fit into anything anymore.  So a DIO shirt owned by Rubalcaba maybe worn during some sweet live shows, yeah man I’m down for sure.  He is continuing to unload all these amazing shirts so if you want to scope them out and you are a Large or maybe a big MED check them all out here.

Thanks Mario!

Day: 940
Shirt: Scorpions - Double Thunder World Tour 2003
Color:  Heather Grey
Brand: PolyGram
Source:  they just don’t make art for records like this anymore.  its a shame.  i can’t even wrap my brain around what is going on with this guy in this picture.  this is normally the art fro the Blackout album so maybe that explains the head dressing he has.  perhaps he blacked out then woke up with some forks in his eyes for some reason?  perhaps some Chef beat the shit out of him and this was payback.  to be honest id be pissed too it looks painful , but really i m more concerned with his head i hope he doesn’t fall asleep and go into a coma like that.  On the plus side his stache is pretty fucking dirty and good.  so he has that going for him.

Scorpions used to be super metal to me as a kid now it just seems borderline butt rock but i am still down with it.  dudes can write some hooks thats for sure.  in my day if your rolled up on some fools and they were wearing Scorpions gear you treaded lightly  thats just how it was.

Day: 910
Shirt: Red Fang - HornsColor:  BlackBrand: Fruit Of the Loom Heavy HDSource: I really do love a band that can have fun, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.   i mean sure be serious but lets not forget your shirts have skulls on them and you are in a band in you 30’s.  no 401K, just a van and some equipment. now i am not talking specifically about Red Fang here just bands in general.  make a career out of it but have fun at the same time.  enjoy the spotlight, the fans and the freedom to do whatever it is you want.  don’t overthink it, its not a career where billions of lives will be affected if you make a bad decision.
Enter Red fang and what i saw as their first video.. I’m sure it wasn’t but it was the first video i saw of theirs directed by snowboard videographer Whitey McConnaughy

It ruled, the music was awesome, the video was awesome and you could tell the any band that would make a video like this has to be shut as much fun live (and they are).  They are really everything you want form a good rock band.  Great Riffs, Great live, and awesome attitudes.  they don’t stop with that video either.. there is another tone that is just as good where they spend a 5K video budget smashing shit.  AMAZING.  every persons dream. well mine at least.
as Kenny Bana says..”It’s Gold Jerry, Gold!!!”

Shirt: Iron Maiden - Best Of the Beast
Color:  Black
Brand: Hanes Heavyweight
Source: I am so filled with boredom today that i have looked at the internet for 4 hrs straight.  nothing good to find yet.  you think you might discover something new after a while.  I get the feeling sometimes while the internet is so damn huge, the part i care about is incredibly small.  BUT i did find this incredible site with almost every album cover for Iron Maiden there is.  amazing art.  amazing.

Day: 861
Shirt: King Diamond - Give Me Your Soul…Please
Color:  Black
Brand: King Diamond
Source: Today i spent th majority of the day on the computer.  so engrossed in what i was doing i almost forgot to get dressed and shower.  when i did finally get ti together i wanted something simple, something that felt like home.  King Diamond always does that.  its like a Slayer shirt.  they just all feel like Pajamas too me.

I love this design tho, really good, a lot of people do cat shirts, but this one nails it the best.

Day: 819
Shirt: Rush - Roll The Bones European Tour 1992
Color:  Black
Brand: [Tag Missing]
Source: Lets be honest.  I love Rush as much as the next guy, Maybe not the next Canadian but for sure the next American.  they rule.  its nerd rock at its very origin.  Like I said tho I didn’t buy this shirt because i love Rush, i bought it because i love Rush and a fucking love Pushead.  Pushead was one of the most iconic and maybe the first ever artist i’d actually recognize by his work.  I mean at age 12 i doubt i could point out every DaVinci, or Van Gough i saw in the world, and advertising, but i certainly could pick out Pusheads.  Much Like my previous post about Frank Frazetta Pushead had this unique line drawing style that was absolutely undoubtedly his.  he applied it to skateboarding , Misfits, and Metallica.  pretty much either new his target audience or he just drew for things he loved.  I still find my self drooling over his designs to this day.  and prolly will be when i am old and 75 wearing some weird skull he drew.

look at that resume, and thats not even a scratch of it.  you cant front on that.

Day: 813
Shirt: The Sword - Apocryphon United States Tour 2012
Color:  White/Black
Brand: American Apparel
Source: I never smoked pot.  I was never a stoner.  Somehow that didnt matter when it came to stoner rock.  i fucking love it.  I can jam on it all night long.  its the white trash part of me that feels like he does when Skinner comes on the radio.  it just courses through my veins i think.

I kind of liek to picture my self at 55-60 picking up a weed habit (Medicinal of course) and spending my days on the porch with a shitty boom box re-living all the stoner jams i can find and really appreciating them as they were meant to be heard.
