Day: 1196

Shirt: Doughboys - Crush Canadian ‘93 Tour

Color:  Black

Brand: Screen Stars

Source: (from Sunday 19th) Yesterday.  i didn’t really have anything to say here other than na na na, i have this shirt and you probably don’t.  don’t ever look for this 9 color shirt to be reproduced anytime soon and even if it did  it wouldn’t look anywhere close.

Day: 1052
Shirt: Green Day - Insomniac 1995 Canadian Tour

Color:  White

Brand: Fruit Of The Loom

Source:  If only every band made a separate shirt for every country they ever toured in.  clearly it wouldn’t make sense for some of the smaller countries like Greece, or Italy.  but you get the idea.  how bout every content then? cool but still not as exciting.  you also ever notice bands a rely if ever translate text on a shirt?  Americans don’t at least.  so arrogant right?

This tour here i would say was a pretty extensive tour as far as Canadian tours go, only to be usurped by the White Stripes later.

I realize the more the album ages the more i enjoy. maybe thats just cause i didn’t enjoy enough when it came out.  it was up against “Out come The Wolves”, and “Mellon Collie And the Infinite Sadness" and i feel like this album came in third.  sorry GD, i may have been just too burnt out on hearing basket case 20 times a day at that point.

Day: 751
Shirt: No Use for A Name - Making Friends The Canadian Way!
Color:  Heather Grey
Brand: Tultex
Source: Unfortunately todays post is a Memorial for a guy who shouldn’t have gone so early, Tony Sly.  NUFAN was a big deal to me growing up and was for a lot of people i would say.  its a bummer to see anyone being taken away form thier friends, family and passion of music at the blink of an eye.  one day you see him on tour with NOFX, the next you realize that was the last time you will ever hear him sing another note ever again.  bummer really.

All i can say to this is at least i got to hear him sing, i got to see him play and i was for lack of a better term part of his life and his passion. so instead of mourning his death i like to celebrate what his life meant.  he wrote great songs and great guitar riffs.

Thanks for everything Tony!

Day: 694
Shirt: Doughboys - Happy Accidents 1990-1991 World tour
Color: Black

Brand: [No Tag]

Source: I have said it before and i’ll say it again.  Canada’s answer to Big Drill car.  not as good in my opinion but a strong second.  my real first introduction to this band came via the Buzzcocks cover albums.

they had a really greast spot on version of “Why She’s A Girl From The Chainstore” it was a hit home seller for me.  immediately went out and bought everything i could by this band and slowly became obsessed

listen. get obsessed Doughboys were a seriously good band.  especially if you were a Cruz Records fan like me.

Day: 691
Shirt: Duran Duran - Seven And The Ragged Tiger 1984 Canadian Tour
Color: Heather Grey

Brand: [no tag]

Source: i have been listening to Duran Duran for as long as i can remember even back to the 2nd grade.  because of my mom i listened to a bunch of random shit that was ahead of my time.  i was a big fan of the Fix, Rush, the Motels and mostly Duran Duran.

in 1984 Duran Duran seemed to just be pumping out hit after hit after hit.  they couldn’t be stopped.  right up until 86 ish when Notorious and A View to a Kill came out and then the brothers Taylor left and crippled that band. never to recover really again.  but this band was a powerhouse 1981-1986  buhleeve dat.  i bet they even had lunch boxes made for this band they were so big.

Day: 600

Shirt: NoMeansNo - You Kill Me

Color: Black

Brand: [Tag Missing]

Source: not a whole lot to report here.  good solid canadian punk rock.  love this design tho, really epic  if anyone knows who drew this i’d love to know.

Day: 472
Shirt: METZ - Blinds
Color: Black
Brand: Gilden Softstyle
Source:  If you like Nation Of Ulysses, Dischord Records, Hot Snakes Or Drive Like Jehu you are in luck.  If you haven’t heard of METZ or heard of them you are in luck.  fucking solid punk outfit from Canada.  Power punk at its finest, the form of a trio but with the sound of at least 5 people.
If you live in america or Canada you can catch them out live right now.  i was smart and had a friend who saw them in NY get me this shirt cause im sick of getting leftovers at the end of the tour with no shirts left in my size.

if you live in LA come to the echo and see this show.  I will be there.  And im faily confident this will be one of them bands that will never play this small club tour again, and you will regret not going when the one person you know went and says “dude, shit was face melting, you should have gone, i had an extra ticket!”
I mean listen to the record cause it speaks for itself, and let me say i find it very comforting when i hear a good punk rock record like this.  Its nice to know there are still bands that can carry on a torch of good musical endeavors.
