Source: So today is day #666  the number of the beast.  kinda anti-climactic if you ask me.  I was going to wear the slayer shirt i wore earlier this week but for obvious reasons i moved it up.  Mercyful fate is no pansy substitute at all but it is a reproduction cause like i said on my Instagram earlier today where someone said “Is This Real” My response was simple.  I wish at age 10 i was cool enough to be cruising at Mercyful Fate shows!  I am almost positive if i was that 10 year old kid i would not be alive today.  

So like i said this was going to be a my Slayer shirt but the beast took Jeff away a few days too early.  Imagine if Jeff would have died on day #666?  that would shave been some spooky shit.  and no blog should wield that much power.  never.  

The Funny thing about the number of the beast.  its kinda like 7 being a lucky number and 13 being unlucky.  i don’t believe in either.  I don’t believe in heaven and hell.  but i love metal music.  and so the #666 has just been funny to me, like i think it is to most people.  like ooohhh!!!  your sandwich cost $6.66 your going to choke on it and die.  no one ever dies.  its shut something neat to take a picture of and show your friends about how you cheated death today.  you have a new lease on life.  so make it count.  

Watch now that i typed all this bullshit i’m going to die somehow tonight and ill be eating my words for all eternity in hell, right?

Shirt: Dag Nasty - Field Day Tour 1988 (Replica)

Source: Ironic that this might be my least fav era of Dag Nasty yet i hold it so coveted.  Its like there is no BAD dag, only lesser great.  Part of my liking this record less is the recording/mixing of the album, it is very weird and never felt right.  this is one record that can stand from a good reissue treatment.  especially since this record specifically isn’t available on most internet media sites.

I wish the band would have taken mer more seriously on making this show happen.  i would have really enjoyed that…

Source: a real soft spot for this woman and her music.  especially in market and era where even though the music was more sensitive was more dominated by men.

This woman was punk tho, went to Sex Pistols shows, got all moshed up she didn’t give a fuck.   but maybe that is what lead to her success.  she wasn’t about making a scene it seems as much as she was about being enveloped in it.   Its what makes her music raw and truthful a the same time.    Honesty goes a long way in songwriting a think  and a good guitar riff doesn’t hurt either.  

Anyone know what year/Tour this shirt is from, i cant for the life of me remember?

Source: Not going to lie, pretty disappointed i didn’t get to see Depeche Mode at the troubadour last night.  Its funny how many people i got into free shows that all of a sudden forget when i ask to get the favor returned. don’t get me wrong there are a few people out there that always come through but for the most part, its grim.  

So i hang my head low and put together a playlist of the set form last night.   weep with me people.

Source: I’m a day late on this post i know..as Atiba says #sorryforpartying.  Anyways i finally broke out this piece yesterday.  very proud of how it turned out.  Looks great , feels great tastes great.  the end of an era and I’m sorry to see it go. i enjoyed this run ill say that for sure.

Source: It really is amazing, how fucking good this album is.  From start to finish its fan-fucking-tastic.  Its funny how people hate on Billy now.  Yet Danzig is far more of a cock and he is still legendary status.  Perhaps its cause he was in Misfits then Danzig, but i dunno. I still think Billy gets a bad rap.  

I feel like he could still come out in front of things tho.  its not like he is making bad music, cause he is not, he is just way better at alienating fans than getting new ones.

Shirt: David Lee Roth - Eat ‘Em And Smile “the World Tour”

Source: You may think this shirt is a joke or i wear it because i think it is “cool” or Ironic.  Nothing could be farther from the truth here.  See I gre up right when Van Halen 1984 Came Out, the Scorpions - Love At First Sting, and Judas Priest - Defenders Of the Faith.  Butt rock was in full effect and it was really my intro into really discovering bands.   Bands Like the Honeydrippers, and Foreigner  my bands my brother wasnt into but when i picked up his crappy rock mags these are bands i was stoked on.  

Needless to say Dave hits the scene with his first solo record ever.  it was a big deal it was everywhere.  it really was as big as thriller almost.  it played on every tV station, radio and record store in sight.  Dave TV was taking over.  i was swept up in it all.  I mean Goin’ Crazy! was the motherfucking jam.   I don’t really know how to put the proverbial pen to paper here to get my point across other that i was swept up in the Dave-ness of it all.  He didnt seem so crazy at the time, only a dude who looked like he knew how to have fun.  me?  what i was maybe 13?  shit i dunno what im supposed to do here, but Dave seemed like a good role model to me.  Gi Joe, Transformers, Indiana Jones,  and David Lee Roth.  thay pretty much sums up my childhood.  

Maybe that answeres a few questions for you, amybe not but that is the raw truth.  and yeah i went to see GI Joe redemption too!

Shirt: Ghost - Year Zero / Haze Over North American Tour 2013

Source: Today marks the date of Ghost’s 2nd album Infestissumam!  If you wanna buy it, but it directly from the band here and get some good packages.  I superb follow up to 2010’s Opus Eponymous.  I can’t say enough about this band in a world where there ate 10 billion new records every year.  every band looks and sounds the same and are’t very derivative of each other.  

Ghost makes it presence known adds some Entertainment  to the already entertaining show.  putting forth the effort that i think gets lost along the way when people are making record in their house.  the idea of Rock and Roll Legendry that seems to be the way of the past.  Some haters will call it a shtick others will call it some next level shit.  give me something to look at, watch, think about and daydream about.  i love the mystery.  look at Daft Punk.  15 years later no one still knows them and what they look like. no one thinks twice about them being in robot costumes.  

And It Is not like the music is sub par either, its great…its dramatic, operatic , its like watching a soundtrack or a score with lyrics. with all the garbage in the world  that gets made into a broadway play, this is the only one i would go to.  a real dark metal play.  i would fucking eat that up with a knife and fork.  think about it.  smoke, giant set. shit flying across the sky.  i mean for all intents and purposes we are watching that now but on a smaller scale.  i feel like I’m on to something.  GHOST contact me and ill put this together :).  

Anyways… crazy ranting aside from me you still have one more chance to see them at Coachell anext weekend..but why?  they have them play at 1PM in the sun. Fuck that whats the point.  this show should never see the light of day.

My suggestion is go see them at one of their club dates that will come to one of these cities soon.  buy tickets now before they sell out, see for yourself.  and don’t blow the opportunity to see them in some reasonable venue before they are doing what ever giant arena venue you know they will end up doing in 2-3 years.  Im looking at you guys in Denver, SF, Portland, Seattle, New York..
