Source: Tonight i was lucky enough to take this shirt to see the first ever FLAG IIII show in Redondo Beach @ the Moose Lodge in Redondo Beach.  Was it going to be good, yes, how could it not be.  but it was great.  it lived up to expectations.  Dez Shreded the mic as if he was back in 1984 like a motherfucking king.   

Keith Owned this night though.  his versions of My War were mind blowing.  he killed the whole set.  I was a kid again, and really couldn’t have been happier and to see it with all the people around me.  fuck what a good show.  i took some pics.  sorry if they suck but enjoy them anyways.

Source: I was sad last week when D. Boons Anniversary came around and i didn’t have a shirt to tribute to him on here.  here he was one of my favorite singers of my fav groups and i only had two shirts.. dissapointing.  

So after that i looked on ebay, scoured the internet, and realized there aren’t many in existence.  IF you do find one on EBay it is either a bootleg or $300+ so what did i do?  Ye ah i made one myself.  found the art, redrew it. made films burned a screen and went o a friends shop and printed a box of shirts.  yeah its not OG but i don’t care.  i love Minutemen and Pettibon, so new or old it doesn’t matter to me, it matters that i care.  and i honor the mark they made on my life.  

So i have  afew leftovers after i made some for friends..if you want one for yourself they are available here while they last

Source: Im curious as to why the original text for this artwork that is on the album cover didn’t make it on the shirt.

Since i cannot even begin to imagine what scientific wrestling is i def will not try to picture who Pettibone was boning at the time of this drawing…poor woman..or person.  I also want to figure out what the tittle of this album is about, but one does not try to dissect Watt-isms.  they will lead you straight into the funny bin.  Only Mike knows.. I just had a thought.  what is Mike Watt and Gary Busey started a band and and had to spend 16hrs a day in a car touring.  can you imagine those conversations?  Now that is a fucking reality show i would watch.  

Dont think about it too hard it will surely make you r head explode.

But Ball Hog Or Tugboat, anyone know what that is supposed to mean?

Source: As i was writing this post today I was listening to the Singles album (Cause its the only one on spotify) Aquaman came on.  i cant tell if Dave wrote this song as a joke or if he was the one guy that really loved Aquaman.  Did Aquaman really get ass?  I kinda doubt it, maybe other aqua men or something but i doubt wonder woman would touch those orange tights with a 10ft lasso of truth.  The only truth that he would reveal is that he is sad no one likes him and his only friends are fish who don’t have feelings.  maybe he would also reveal that he secretly likes Sushi too.  enough about this character lets move on to the one on the shirt

the character drawn by the one and only Raymond Pettibon  this design is fucking epic.   might be one of the best Chemical People shirts out there.  (sorry Chris but if you are going to get beat out by being best its ok to come in second place to Pettibon) I have this shirt as a MOCA edition done by Raymond Pettibon as a Black Flag shirt but it would be the first time an illustrator has reused the same image for two bands , now is it.  this time it looks like it was originally for a flyer for a black flag / Eddie and the subtleties and the Minutemen. 

This art is so good, and way better in color…Right?

Source:  Much like yesterdays shirt, this one i have been obsessing over for about two years, so finally i just nutted up and made it myself.  I don’t enjoy talking a whole lot and that includes talking about things i want to do…I would rather talk about things i HAVE done. This shirt wasn’t going to print it self, so here i am.  

Loose Nut is in particular a very special record for me.  It was my first black flag ALBUM i owned.  i think the local record store i went to only have a few albums by Black Flag and it was either this or a live album.  mind you when i say album i mean cassette tape.  back when it was either tapes or Vinyl, and neither was considered to be retro, or clever.  it was just shitty sound and a horrible fast forward rewind experience all around.  

But loose Nut i loved it..I was floored it was heavy and dark, and it wasnt the popy singers that i had heard in passing before.  this was heavy Rollins punching the floor process of weeding out Black Flag. from here i moved on to In My Head then when to first four years, then slip it in, the My War.  it was a weird introduction, but i really took my time with this band  I was in no hurry to burn them out.  i really enjoyed each tape before moving on to another.  I thin kin total it was almost 3-4 years before i had every album.  So glad i did it this way, cause now today each record reminds me of different times in my life. the Loose Nut Days, the First Four Years / Everything Went Black , years.  and The My War Slip it in Era.  So Yeah this shirt means a lot to me.  reminds me of hanging out on my own one summer, building a spine Ramp in Cameron Park, and leaning how to skate the shit out it.  Made a whole bunch of new friends dated a really hot chick for like a week.  and got my first flow package for skatebaording.  it was a good era.

Source:  taking a break from my favorite music this year posts i have been doing i wanted to put this up for a few reasons.

1.  It amazing.  c’mon  look at it.  

2. I made it.  I was searching for an original for so long i gave up and said fuck it ill make my own.  so I did.  But then i was thinking if i am going to make one i might as well do a run. so i made a few designs. printed a few extras too for other nerds.  email me if  you want one for your self.  it is a really small run so when they are out hey are out no more.  maybe no one gets you anything good for the holidays, now is the time to treat yourself.  

3.  We are all aware of the recent shootings of some dip shit who killed a bunch of kids.  what the fuck.  if you are going to go on a shooting rampage, DONT, but if you DO go to a sports bar or someplace where scumbags and degenerates hang out.  go shoot out the local drug dealers and rapists.  not some fucking kids who just learned the alphabet.  Or just save everyone else the time and off yourself.  I know its way less dramatic, but maybe you can live webcast it or something.  at least that will be over in a week and no one will care.  

This shirt design is done in 1986  it has the same message and meaning today as it did back then.  ”I’ve Been Good For Too Long” it says.  funny, gun control was an issue then and it still is now, nothing has changed. thats how fast this political system moves.  I bet when Raymond Pettbon was making this shirt back then he was thinking the same thing about some other different murder that happened that era..Manson family murders.  who knows  insert name or Murder spree HERE and year HERE and you have the same shit different day.  I like you Obama but you screamed for change.  make some!

Source:  I have been waiting almost a year to wear this shirt.  I Mean how often do you get to rock a family man shirt near the 30th anniversary of this gun on the cover killing his family then blowing his brains out??  I wonder what it all means.  You couldn’t pay me to be inside the brain of Raymond Ginn (Or Pettibon), i bet it is scary as shit in there.  It probably is like an old Hitchcock movie / Twilight Zone.  I take that back i would def hang out inside his brain during the baseball era or the Surfing era…those look nice.  maybe pains them in rehab or some sort of therapy session or something.

As for Family Man, a dissapointing record if you bought it expecting Damaged, or Slip It In..not so dissapointing i fyou were a fan of “Get In The Van” by Rollins, or his spoken word , material.  or the aforementioned Process Of Weeding Out, that too.  the psychedelic  Black Flag.  i guess you can chalk it up to the 80’s.

 Last thing i wanna say is i love you Pettibon.  you were the perfect companion to Black Flag Music.  thank you for that
