Day: 595
Shirt: Belle & Sebastian - Ampersand
Color: Navy Blue
Brand: Fruit Of the Loom Heavy
Source: In Case you are sitting at work today with not much to do and want to fill your brain with some really good information. Pitchfork Classic released one of their documentaries this week on Belle & Sebastian’s “If You’re Feeling Sinister.” I superbly great documentary series that takes a record and highlights the making behind it. a visual 33 1/3 if you will. In hindsight i should posted up the one they did on Modest Mouse in that post earlier. that would have made sense..duh.
Either way i am a big sucker for documentaries in a big way. Im the kind of guy that not only is interested in thew product but the making of the product. example no t only do i enjoy a nicely crafted table with dovetails i also feel the need to figure out how the dovetails are made, how the wood is stained, and for that matter, where the wood comes from. Im just a curious person by nature. I think i can relate it to one of my moms husbands. one time i asked him how does one of these lights work

Day: 454
Shirt: Pitchfork - Turquoise Trout
Color: Turquoise
Brand: Hanes
Source: Every time i wear this shirt i get all paranoid that people will think i am repping the website of the same name. I am pretty sure i made myself clear in in a recent post about my feelings of media influenced reviews but if not you can re-read it here. Don’t get me wrong i don’t hate on the site or anything, i appreciate what it has contributed to music. its just the rating of music that i find worthless. and Pitchfork is at the top of that media lit. they take it a lil too far in in my opinion. well a lot too far.
but this post is about the epic band, not the media site. its about a band that was a spark or many fires but in my opinion none that have lit as brightly as Pitchfork. something about the energy on this record that is fucking undeniable. a power that was so big it was un harnisable and couldn’t be reproduced for a second record.
Would i mind if they played a gain..fuck no. a new record? i think at this point why fuck with it. this record is untouchable. would Davinci try to paint another Mona Lisa? nah, you just leave it, display it. let people enjoy it.
Its a time capsule of power and punk.
I need to make a pitchfork shirt of this album cover and 7” oh yes, i will.
Day #356 Drive Like Jehu - White Yank Crime Era
Color: White
Brand: Oneita
Source: All I had to do was mention the first Pitchfork CD this morning to someone and it put me in the mode for this band. seriously. if you have never listened to Drive Like Jehu or Pitchfork, spend the rest of this day doing it. nothing says summertime like some Rick Froberg vocals. don’t ask me why, just does.
PS those of you that didn’t appreciate yesterdays shirt are tripping. trip-iing.
Day: #273 Hot Snakes - Suicide Invoice

Day: #264 Drive Like Jehu - Duct Tape Logo
Color: Black
Source: Tag Missing
Brand: Went to see the Hot Snakes the other night before i left at Troubadour. Shit was fucking awesome. That is a group of Musicians who are talented, tight and know how to plow through a set like it was opening a beer bottle. no sweat. Since i am at a hotel and starving , i will be succinct.
I loved Hot Snakes last night, i love Jehu even more, and even more than that i love Pitchfork. when they play my head will explode.
Day: #236 Pitchfork - Fish Shirt Color: Grey Brand: Stedman Source: I have been trying to find a Pitchfork shirt for about 10+ years. It is virtually impossible. they either are very few in existence or are impossible to search for. its like trying to find a shirt from the band ALL, or Brand New it just gets clogged up and lost in the feed of data that gives you pages and pages of wrong information. Anyhow, all my friends either Love the shit out of Rocket From the Crypt and or Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu, but none of them appreciate or know about Pitchfork. Don’t get me wrong i love Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes and RFTC, but none of them have even held water to the earlier formation they once titled Pitchfork. It is an anomaly i think, similar to one of records that were made and then abandoned only to have a long amazing legacy that is almost mythical. Egghunt is one of those bands, Pailhead is another. for some reason or another, the stars align and the music they produce truly is once in a lifetime, and then it is gone never to resurface again, and for good reason, if it did it would never have the same effect. So if any of you had Egghunt or Pailhead on your list of bands you fuckign love and have never heard of Pitchfork i am so fucking excited for you. I wish i had never heard of them so i could re-discover them again. PS fuck soundcloud and their dumbass copyprotections
Day: 074
Shirt: Sufjan Stevens - Michigan
Color:Navy Blue
Brand: AMerican Apparel
Source: There was a time when Sufjan was going to make a record for every state, and i think he got as far on that project as i did with my week of girl singers. good intentions, but i suspect he might have felt the same way i did, it just stopped being fun, so you find a way to make it fun again.
My old roomie Ryan bough me this CD one year for christmas (funny in hindsight to think he is probably the only person to ever buy me a cd for a gift ever) because it was the #1 pick of the year on Pitchfork. I reluctantly listened to it and loved it, i believe he said to me, it was like the good badly drawn boy record. He was right, great music, and soothing voice. so i got this shirt when he played the following month in LA. funny the only real memory I have of this shirt is taking a picture with my wife wearing it (i think she may have been a girlfriend at the time, cause she looked happy in the picture :) ) at a shoot she was doing with coolio, #50. And coolio blew my mind with his cooking techniques, his adamant behavior that he thinks bust rhymes is gay, and an amazing case of homophobia. funny how his acting career didn’t last too long, wonder why…
Day: 051-A Shirt: Drive Like Jehu Color: Black Brand: Hanes Source: To Be honest here, if i had to pick my favorite San Diego Spawn band here it’s going to be Pitchfork. I mean don’t get me wrong, i love Rocket, And Jehu..but Pitchfork really didn’t it for me, and sadly i missed out on seeing them so when Jehu got together and i had the opportunity to see them i jumped right on it. They were fuckign sick, but i was so in live with the Pitchfork record that i could never fully enjoy Jehu like i think i could have. pipe in here anyone if you listened to Pitchfork before Jehu and you think i am wrong, but thats the facts. Now i love me some Jehu, Hot Snakes, Obits, Night Marchers..them all. but i will always be holding my breath for some random Pitchfork reunion. Perhaps Pitchfork Media will put two and two together and orchestrate that. PS sorry for the late post, you have Time Warner to thank for that and their giant outage of internet.
