Shirt: FYF 2012 - Travis Millard Design
Color: Baby Blue
Brand: Gilden Softstyle
Source: Travis Millard might be one of my favorite artists in the world. i should say people, but its him and his art that make him so good. he has a great way of translating the real world into a comical drawing that will make you think, smile and laugh all at once. the above is a shirt i commissioned him to do for last years FYF. I’m sure he will do another for this years as well, so look out for that.
In other great news he has an ART SHOW at THIS gallery this weekend if you are in the LA area come check it out. his work will blow your mind and leave you feeling good.
If you don’t live in LA and love Travis..here is a sneak peak of a new TV show we are working on with him doing what he does best…. telling stories and drawing stuff you can follow it on the tumblr here http://drawingstories.tumblr.com
Day: 615
Shirt: Magnolia Electric Company - Arc
Color: Black
Brand: Hanes Heavyweight 50/50
Source:so i tried to post this yesterday but just couldn’t get it out. Maybe some of you heard and maybe some of you are just hearing it now…but the creative man behind Songs: Ohia, and the Magnolia Electric Company died passed away this weekend. I really admired this man and his music. it meant a lot to me and happily i was able to pass it on to many close friends of mine who i am sure will also be nothing short of devastated.
I tried so hard to spread this mans music around that i must have sounded like a traveling mormon trying to convert people. i couldn’t help it. his music just touched me, spoke to me and had a way of just sounding so fucking authentic, and true, it made my heart hurt when i listed to it when i was sad. if i was in a good mood, it pumped me up like a good Warren Zvevon song always does. I went to see him every chance i could when he would come to town. I made new friends because of his music, i really dont have a bad thing to say about him at all, cept i’m sad to see he let Alcohol take it all away.
I remember one of my first days at MySpace i crept up to the person who would spotlight bands once in a while before it was commonplace and gently dropped a cd on her desk and ask that she kindly listen to it in hopes she would post his mug up on the page and get more people to listen to him. like i said i wanted EVERYONE to love him like i did.
i made my wife shoot his band for free because i wanted my two worlds to collide. my love of a good woman and my love of great music. im seriously going to miss you man.

Goodbye and farewell.
Day: 59
Shirt: Angry Samoans - I ♡ NY
Color: white
Brand: fruit of the loom
Source: I think at one point the band just bought a bunch of shitty random shirts and just screen-printed their logo on on them. pretty smart considering A: the shirts are kind pre-softened B: its cheap C: it makes each shirt unique.
I’m curious if the band did it to be cheap or creative. im going to go with creative cause i am feeling optimistic today
Day: 595
Shirt: Belle & Sebastian - Ampersand
Color: Navy Blue
Brand: Fruit Of the Loom Heavy
Source: In Case you are sitting at work today with not much to do and want to fill your brain with some really good information. Pitchfork Classic released one of their documentaries this week on Belle & Sebastian’s “If You’re Feeling Sinister.” I superbly great documentary series that takes a record and highlights the making behind it. a visual 33 1/3 if you will. In hindsight i should posted up the one they did on Modest Mouse in that post earlier. that would have made sense..duh.
Either way i am a big sucker for documentaries in a big way. Im the kind of guy that not only is interested in thew product but the making of the product. example no t only do i enjoy a nicely crafted table with dovetails i also feel the need to figure out how the dovetails are made, how the wood is stained, and for that matter, where the wood comes from. Im just a curious person by nature. I think i can relate it to one of my moms husbands. one time i asked him how does one of these lights work

Day: 551
Shirt: Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Color: Black
Brand: Giant by Tultex heavyweight
Source: 1986 waas an epic year for music and for me. this record was my real foray into Metallica for me. while i knew of this band and heard a few songs here and there this one was the one that drew me in. all my friends older siblings were into it, so i was curious.
i think in 1986 i would’ve been 13. i doubt this record was targeted at me, but like most god records it found its way into my lap. in 86 i was heavily into INXS and ZZ Top and shit like that, so this def was the heaviest thing i was into. mom was not pleased, didn’t understand it. but you know who did? my friends older sister and her friends. yeah dog. this was also the same year i learned to smoke pot (poorly) i doubt i even inhaled. touched a girls vagina and kissed a girl. i owe it all or (blame depending on who i am talking to) to Metallica and this record.
For lack of a better phrase it helped harden me and turn me from a fresh faced innocent pussy into someone who was just starting to come into his own. a real life John Huges moment. for a few years it was integral in my life. it allowed me to hang with the big boys and appreciate a whole different world. Interesting to think back now how a record could do that to a person, but in a weird way it did. So next time you hear something completely out of your comfort zone and you don’t understand it take a moment to soak it in and try to appreciate it. might open a door that you never knew existed.
sadly 4-5 years later Metallica would put out another record that i consider the turning point. there was a giant line outside of Tower records at Midnight to get the new black album. MTV would play the shit out of it and kinda ruin them for me for a long time. Metallica never put anything out i would love nearly as much as master ever again. but that is fine. i only need one Master Of Puppets in my life.
Day: 122
Shirt: Wolf Parade - Expo 86
Color: Dark Heather Grey
Brand: American Apparel 50/50
Source: This is a prolific band. and I’m quite sure you have come across one of its many musical spawns at one point or another if you have any musical taste. i almost forget how many bands this one band has spawned, or spawned from. its like a musical christmas tree that keeps on giving. i wish i could do drawing on Tumblr cause i would, instead i will simply have to deal with text.
Frog Eyes > Wolf Parade >Sunset Rubdown > Moonface
Atlas Strategic > Wolf Parade > Handsome Furs
Hot Hot Heat > Wolf Parade
Does all that make sense? my point being is that this is a cesspool of musical talent. so dive in and enjoy all of it, if you have only heard a little.
This shirt is from hands down my Favorite Wolf Parade record. it was one of my top records for 2010. i love this record so much, still jam on it today. I think they are on hiatus now, but listen to the song below and enjoy, and then go listen to moonface cause that is also awesome, and they are playing this year.
