Day: 698
Shirt: Mercyful Fate - Dont Break The Oath US tour (Boot)
Color: White
Brand: Gilden
Source: I have been in Denver all weekend so i am playing catchup… here is number two:
I’m sure it seems like i might be on a metal kick lately. you have seen a lot of King Diamond, Slayer and King Diamond on here. Im not rejecting Christ or anything..mostly because i never accepted him. but point being is i just get in these zones where certain bands start to unfold. i listened to Mercyful Fate a lot as a kid but i never went super deep, liek king Diamond solo deep. yeah i listened to king Diamond but i never sat down with him and listened to everything over and over, and lately i have just been appreciating the shit out of it. and i get psyched. i wish i could cram all my musical information now into 16yo Isac. that’d be some pussy magnet gettin’ shit.
So yeah the above shirt is a bootleg of an old original but to be honest if i had the original i’d be sketched out to wear it and not get it ruined. this one i can wear guilt free. but some kid in Mexico makes some epic Mercyful fate shirts if you ever want them , top quality shit. you can find him on ebay.
Day: 683
Shirt: Jeff Hanneman - Still Reigning 1964-2013
Color: Black
Brand: Hanes Tagless
Source: Went to the memorial not sure what to expect yesterday. part of it was scary, part of it was heavy and part of it was just comical.
the Scary part was the amount of people that showed up. there was a line around the entire block of the Palladium. and i mean form one side to the other. all kids wearing Slayer shirts. the Wesboro church was supposed to picket but by the time i got there there was no sight of them. it seemed like a losing battle anyways.
The Heavy part was the speeches and stories people told. all of them seemed to realize that Jeff drank a lot and this day was inevitable. then you realized that this guy, the guy that wrote the catchiest MEtal riffs ever, War Ensemble, Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven was gone. would anyone be able to write such epic catchy metal riffs ever again? I’ll go on record here saying Metallica was neevr the same after Cliff passed. Neither Was Sabbath. these guys are the hearts and souls of the bands.
So the comical part was during a slide show of photos of Jeff with accompanying music they started playing slayer songs…and and soon as Reign in Blood starts, you can feel it…heads bobbing, metalheads getting emotional and it starting to sink in, the guy who wrote these epic guitar parts that we all remeber is now gone for good. and pit ensues. mind you this is a wake. It may seem crass, but to me i cant think of a better way for these people to send off Jeff. a giant circle Pit. I kinda feel like he would have been proud. so many people in this place all to celebrate his life and what he gave to us.
Thanks Forever Jeff.
Day: 682
Shirt: Baroness - Blue Album
Color: Black
Brand: Fruit Of the Loom Best
Source: Just getting excited to hear a proper blue album performance soon at FYF this year. i got a sneak peak before the crash when they were on a tour with Messhuga? i forget i didn’t stay only wanted to hear new Blue Album songs then i peaced out.
Alls i have to say if that i am seriously thankful that John Dyer Baizley did not go the way of Dio, Cliff and Jeff Hanneman. that would have been fucking tragic.
Day: 676
Shirt: Metallica - Crash Course In Brain Surgery (re-issue)
Color: White
Brand: Gilden
Source: computer is in the shop getting repairs so ill make this brief since i am posting from an iPhone
I always wanted this shirt and Mettalica seems to understand the shirt collector nerd market cause every now and then they will make replicas of old shirts for a limited time. Saves me the trouble of making my own. Pushead fucking rules
Day: 665
Shirt: Testament - Practice What You Preach
Color: Black
Brand: no tag
Source: Testament is a funny find for me. I think someone left a tablature book at my house once. I looked at it and just thought fuck this…who the hell plays like this? So then I went and picked up a copy of the cassette and started listening to it. I really got into it surprisingly especially since most of the music I listened to was punk. Maybe Pennywise was the fastest at the time. Well I guess Metallica was…And Slayer. Ok, its clear I don’t know what the fuck I am talking about, cause that was 20 years ago. But for some reason in my mind this was some of the fastest music I had. And it sticks out in my head very vividly as such.
Maybe I bought an album or two after this record but for the most part I kinda fell off. Until a few years ago when the singer somehow beat cancer and put out this record called “the Formation of Damnation.” For some reason this record stuck to me like glue and I listened to it over and over. I mean I know why It stuck to me, cause it was a fuckin’ great record that was recorded really well and sounded amazing. I saw them live on that tour for the first time ever opening up for Megadeath on one of the tours where they played a record in full, but Testament blew them away I think.
Anyways this shirt was up on eBay and this album always gave me a great memory of that tablature book and how you can really discover music anywhere at anytime. So I will continue to wear the shit out of it for the next 20 years and who knows. Maybe some day some kid will stare at it and think why is that old guy rocking an even older Testament shirt and go listen for himself.
Day: 662
Shirt: Slayer - Root Of All Evil
Color: black
Brand: gilden
Source: this was supposed to be my shirt for day #666.
Unorturnaltly the Beast came and took Jeff too early. you will be very missed and always remembered. Rest In Peace good sir.

Day: 645
Shirt: Ghost - Year Zero / Haze Over North American Tour 2013
Color: Black
Brand: Hanes
Source: Today marks the date of Ghost’s 2nd album Infestissumam! If you wanna buy it, but it directly from the band here and get some good packages. I superb follow up to 2010’s Opus Eponymous. I can’t say enough about this band in a world where there ate 10 billion new records every year. every band looks and sounds the same and are’t very derivative of each other.

Ghost makes it presence known adds some Entertainment to the already entertaining show. putting forth the effort that i think gets lost along the way when people are making record in their house. the idea of Rock and Roll Legendry that seems to be the way of the past. Some haters will call it a shtick others will call it some next level shit. give me something to look at, watch, think about and daydream about. i love the mystery. look at Daft Punk. 15 years later no one still knows them and what they look like. no one thinks twice about them being in robot costumes.

And It Is not like the music is sub par either, its great…its dramatic, operatic , its like watching a soundtrack or a score with lyrics. with all the garbage in the world that gets made into a broadway play, this is the only one i would go to. a real dark metal play. i would fucking eat that up with a knife and fork. think about it. smoke, giant set. shit flying across the sky. i mean for all intents and purposes we are watching that now but on a smaller scale. i feel like I’m on to something. GHOST contact me and ill put this together :).

Anyways… crazy ranting aside from me you still have one more chance to see them at Coachell anext weekend..but why? they have them play at 1PM in the sun. Fuck that whats the point. this show should never see the light of day.
My suggestion is go see them at one of their club dates that will come to one of these cities soon. buy tickets now before they sell out, see for yourself. and don’t blow the opportunity to see them in some reasonable venue before they are doing what ever giant arena venue you know they will end up doing in 2-3 years. Im looking at you guys in Denver, SF, Portland, Seattle, New York..
Day: 636
Shirt: Ghost - Secular Haze
Color: Black
Brand: Fruit Of The Loom Classic Valueweight
Source: In some small miracle, perhaps a dark one, Ghost made it all the way up until today without leaking. yeah it comes out in 2 days…but nowadays that next to impossible. however they did it is amazing. perhaps it is a testament to the Metal community. maybe no one cared except me? who knows. its out. thats all that matters. Tues you can buy the album, then enxt monday i get to see them at the El Rey in Los Angeles. If you are going to either Coachella’s you can witness them there too but i cant imagine it will be nearly as good. especially if they have to play during the day.
I hope you are not sick of Ghost shirts cause after my Pre-Order comes and they play there will be many more.
Day: 625
Shirt: Mercyful Fate - Don’t Break The Oath
Color: Yellow
Brand: Gilden
Source: It must be the skateboarder in me. Something that i just cant get over how much i enjoy falsetto metal and guitar riffs. it really is music to my ears. My only regret is not being cool enough at age 10 to go see Mercyful fate on this tour. Regrets yes i know we have all had a few, but this is on the top.
Now I have Ghost…or Ghost B.C. but i pledge to go see them every time i can humanly possibly make it. why? so when my punk ass kid is listening to Ghost and telling me he wishes he could have seen this show when he was 10 i will say, Bitch! i did. 10 times. and it ruled every time. now go out side and go play on your hover board and robotic dog! i’m going to turn out the lights and burn some sage and get in the ZONE. Don’t Break the oath…then Opus Eponymous.
Learn IT. Live It.
PS: no this isn’t an OG shirt. it was a later reprint.. But Even a reprint of a Mercyful Fate shirt is still better than any vintage shirt, with the exception of a vintage Mercyful Fate shirt, but that goes without saying.
Day: 621 B
Shirt: Metallica - Ride the Lightning
Color: Black
Brand: Hanes
Source: that Yuck shirt i was wearing yesterday sharnk up and it was driving me crazy. it felt like a half shirt. so i changed mid day. forgot to post this.
