Day: 912Shirt: Dag Nasty - Wig Out At denkosColor:  BlackBrand: M and OSource: When in doubt, Wig out!
Part of me secretly was hoping there would be a Dag Nasty Coachella reunion but in stead i got Outkast.  meh.  While i know the Dag Nasty Reunion would be awesome part of me knows it is better left untouched.  Sadly though it is like when someone gives you a box and says DONT LOOK INSIDE all you want to do is look inside.  even though you know it might be sock or something you don’t really care about that much if fucks with your mind.
You gotta be kinda impressed with Wig Out.  not many bands ever switch singer in the height of their popularity and are able to pull it off.  it is a real miracle feat for sure.  yes Wig out seems to go down in punk rock history right next to Can I Say.  its almost as if Dag Nasty had to epic Debuts in a row.  Dag for Life.  seriously.

Day: 660

Shirt: Dag Nasty - Field Day Tour 1988 (Replica)

Color: Black

Brand: American Apparel 50/50

Source: Ironic that this might be my least fav era of Dag Nasty yet i hold it so coveted.  Its like there is no BAD dag, only lesser great.  Part of my liking this record less is the recording/mixing of the album, it is very weird and never felt right.  this is one record that can stand from a good reissue treatment.  especially since this record specifically isn’t available on most internet media sites.

I wish the band would have taken mer more seriously on making this show happen.  i would have really enjoyed that…

Day: 572
Shirt: Dag Nasty - Can I Say
Color: Black
Brand: [Tag Missing]
Source: I fucking love this shirt, Album, Art, Band.  I cant say enough really about how much i love them.  Rarely does an album have such an impact on life as did this one did on mine and many others.   Somehow it just spoke to me and a lot of my friends.  tapped into a group of people that didn’t think had any members outside of their small circles .  It was an album much like 7 Seconds, let you know while you may be an outcast in your town, city or area, you weren’t alone in this world.  It let you know before the internet existed that you were not alone.  you had friends, comrades, allies in the same war you were quietly fighting on your own.  a war that consisted mostly of being an outcast, unique, and a man or woman marching to a different tune.  one that said i will not be a sheep.  i will question things, point out wrong doing, and stick to my guns no matter how much pressure comes down on me.
If this album were a movie it would be the Godfather.  it would have won Oscars, swards and merits.  It will forever go down and be filed in our brains as such.  It will always be a uniting sign.  see a man wearing this shirt or has this tattoo on them you don’t have to say anything to them, only that 20 years later you can still prolly feel the same way towards this person as you did when you first got this album.
I Still stand by my offer to Dag Nasty to get them to play a show with Dave and Peter.  i want to be able to live this moment once in my life, but even more so i want to live it with an entire generation of people in the same room.

Color: Charcoal
Brand: American Apparel 50/50
Source: Sadly, well not sadly more unfortunatly i was on a flight the day this show happened or else i might have gone.  well…i bet i would hold out for Dave or Peter.  What can i say i am more of a melodic hardcore guy than the Shawn Brown hardcore.  hey i made a pun there and didn’t even realize it.
The wonderful TIm Skirven was kind enough to smuggle a shirt from the show for me since i couldn’t be in attendance.  Who knew this whole thing was online..now i will stop writing to watch this show…peace

Day: 435
Shirt: Swiz - White Logo Shirt
Color: White
Brand: Gildan
Source: You may know this band from the singer, Shawn Brown who was actually the first singer for Dag Nasty.  he is on the 7” box set 85-86.
Then he was “Dismissed from the band” and it seems very mysterious to this day.  Whatever it was it fired him up to do his own band Swiz.  NOW what you may not know, well you HC nerds out there do, but maybe your more casual punkers don’t know is the other cast members of Swiz consisted of Nathan Larson who is more famously known for being in Shudder to Think.  he is also famous for being married to Nina Persson the lead singer of the Cardigans who is also in a group currently which is a big favorite of mine called A Camp.  Let it be stated nina is one of my al time fav girl crushes.  should she read this and want to give me a holler my contact info is on the left there lady..USE IT.  Yeah my wife knows, she understands.  so its cool.  lets just talk at least :).
Oh yeah Swiz, sorry got distracted there.  see how easily that happens to me?  Dag Nasty>Swiz>Shudder to think>Nathan Larson>Cardigans>Nina Persson (Again, this is how my mind works).  So yeah the second member you may or may not know is the Jason Farrell of the Dischord Band Bluetip.  Pretty cool huh?  it is for me.
While Swiz never seemed to take off, going in a more hardcore direction at a time when bands were going a bit more melodic it just never seemed to solidify.  perhaps it had something to do with Brown himself, because everyone left this band too.  i mean you cant fire the guy who started the band right? Well you can, but that never works out too well.   either way no matter what the differences were the band split and Sean i guess went on to become a tattoo artist.  so it seems all worked out well for everyone.

Day #372 Dag Nasty - Can I Say
Color: Black
Brand: Delta
Source:  Dear Dag Nasty Members,
Its been nearly 30 years since you guys formed now.  and since i have been into punk rock, and in my time i was never able to see you.  I was right on the cusp of you breaking up after Field Day.  I have listened to your records more than almost any other music I have ever owned, with the exception of Descendents i think.  It pains me to think you guys (well most) are still playing music and no one has orchestrated a show with all of you together.
I’m not saying a reunion, cause that sounds like you need re-uniting, but more perhaps a celebration of Dag Nasty in general.  Get all the singers together, do a few nights with each of them have some old time friends play with you, just make it fun, and celebrate the life that grew from Dag Nasty.  Celebrate it before anyone is (god forbid injured or passes) before its to late.  And while you are at it lets try to educate a few new kids of today while we are at it.  let them know what unity and a scene once meant to kids.  before it was “cool” to be punk and being yourself was far from cool.
I’m not trying to guilt you by any means, that is not my intention.  short of Minor Threat playing again (and we know that won’t happen) you guys are the obvious choice.  One of the very few bands that can help revive and resuscitate  not only a scene but an ethos.
Think about it, Can I Say, Wig out, Field Day, Four On The FLoor…all of it.  there would be thousands of kids voiceless after a weekend of this, including me.  Is it possible even or an i grasping at straws here.  Ill Pay whatever it takes you tell me, and ill make it happen.  Its not about money for me, its just about being able to have this experience and being able to share it with others.  others i don’t know, probably will never know, but feel like brothers and sisters, and family to me.
If its money, ill raise it, start a kickstarter, pay for it myself, i don’t care.  you all loved this band and scene once before, and some of you still do , what will it take to make it happen again?
This is no Joke, I’m completely serious and ready to back up my actions.
thanks a bunch,
-Isac

Day # 311 Dag Nasty - Can I Say?
Color: Navy Blue
Brand: Allstyle Apparel
Source:  No i did not get to see Dag Nasty.  Yes it sucks.  Yes i would go see them now in a heartbeat.  Did I like 4 on the Floor, yep.  Was a pumped when Down By Law finished off their set with a Dag Nasty Song, Fucking A I was!
I’ve said it before how much Dave Smalley had on my as a young duder, and shit even now.  but then, Dag Nasty ruled the shit out of my life.  I wish i had some old pics of my i could post up here but i never did like getting my picture take so there are not many around.  but Dag Nasty , 7 Seconds, BLack Flag and Descendents were on content rotation.
Its hard to describe but I liked these bands for different reasons.  Ill Put Dave Smalley and Kevin Seconds in One Cat, Milo / Bill from Descendents in another, and Bands like Cirle Jerks, Agent Orange and Black Flag in another.
The first group 7Seconds/Dag Nasty i gravitated to because i felt as if i could relate with everything they were singing about, being an outcast, hating Jocks, etc..  I was a loner, i didn’t play sports, i dint fit in until well, i still don’t.  but then i dint fit in even more.  i didn learn to not give a shit what other people thought, and did.  they were all sheep and afraid of being different, i was not.
The Descendents category was the wishy washy dude in my that talked on the phone for hours to girls and liked to get load, and fell in love and all that garbage.  and the breakups.  all of it.
the Black Flag/ Circle Jerks Category was the music i gre up on listening to going to and form the skatepark, and while skateboarding.  it was the getting geared up music, to get yourself psyched to just down 10 stair handrails and before going into punk rock shows.
I still have a great amount of respect for Dave / Kevin today.  they are both still doing it, doing what they loved 30 years ago, and not stopping, i think it is all they know, sending the message to new kids everyday.  I got mine, and if i could send it back to them i would just say thanks a bunch, it helped a ton!
