Day: 1095

Shirt: Slayer - Donington August 26th 1995

Color:  Black

Brand: Brockum

Source:  kind of a weird line up but considering it was 1995 it seems to be par for the course.

but a great performance none the less.

Watching this makes me miss Jeff tho.

Day: 1052
Shirt: Green Day - Insomniac 1995 Canadian Tour

Color:  White

Brand: Fruit Of The Loom

Source:  If only every band made a separate shirt for every country they ever toured in.  clearly it wouldn’t make sense for some of the smaller countries like Greece, or Italy.  but you get the idea.  how bout every content then? cool but still not as exciting.  you also ever notice bands a rely if ever translate text on a shirt?  Americans don’t at least.  so arrogant right?

This tour here i would say was a pretty extensive tour as far as Canadian tours go, only to be usurped by the White Stripes later.

I realize the more the album ages the more i enjoy. maybe thats just cause i didn’t enjoy enough when it came out.  it was up against “Out come The Wolves”, and “Mellon Collie And the Infinite Sadness" and i feel like this album came in third.  sorry GD, i may have been just too burnt out on hearing basket case 20 times a day at that point.

Day: 804
Shirt: Green Day - Insomniac US Tour 1995
Color:  Army Green
Brand: Wild Oats
Source: one of my Fav Green Day Records…well fav Green Day Major Label Records.  It was a great follow up to Dookie.  lots of pressure there and they pulled it off.  showing they Greee Day was not just some fly by night popularity.

Brain Stew really did it for me on this record.  such a good catchy hook of a guitar part that even today i still think about and get stuck in my head.

Day: 612

Shirt: the Cranberries - No Need To Argue World Tour 1995

Color: Black

Brand: Fruit Of The Loom Classic

Source: I started out the day today listening to the New My Bloody Valentine.  during the middle of it i was taken out.  At track 6 i did a double take and i thought i was listening to the band IVY.  i dont know why I’m going into this but if you are a music nerd and know IVY and MBV listen to track 6 on the new MBV record and tell me if you think it sounds like IVY.

So then i started listening to IVY..and tat seg-wayed into the Cranberries..  and thats how i ended up putting this shirt on today.  MBV>the Cranberries.  weird.

Its hard to think this record and tour was almost 15 years ago.  this record totally takes me back to a time when i was listening to 3 records heavily.  this one, Dinosaur Jr. Without a Sound and Mazzy Star - So Tonight I Might See.  I had just broken up with a girl i had been dating for 5 years.  worst idea ever dating a girl that long as a teenager.  luckily i didn’t do anything stupid like get married or anything back then.  I would go to work, listen to music and i kinda hid out for a while.  doing weird stuff like making a stop action version of Pulp Fiction with barbie dolls i painted.  then i decided to see if i could wire my car cd player that was laying around in my house to an outlet and try to make a home stereo out of it.  bad idea.  shocked the shit out of me and blew the breaker for the entire apt building.  lesson learned.

It sounds like a dark time,  but reality it wasn’t.  it was the first time in my life i hung out with myself.  i didn’t rely on friends to talk to or felt like i had to be going out.  i learned a lot about myself and got to grow a little bit more and also got some great perspective on relationships.

The Cranberries will always remind me of that time,  time a remember fondly.

Day: 602

Shirt: Björk - Post Tour 1995

Color: Heather Grey

Brand: Screen Stars

Source: I tried to post this 4 times yesterday.  if this posts i ll come back and explain why.

Ok so apparently you cannot upload a photo with this symbol in it “Ö”  and in Björk.  it hangs and wouldn’t let me upload this file yesterday.  i wrote 3 renditions of this post and each time it just got lost.  so i am kind of burnt on talking about it now.  but be forewarned if you ever have this problem yourself.

Day: 458
Shirt: Face To Face - Big Choice Tour 1995
Color: Black
Brand: Screen Stars Black
Source:  There was a time when i was embarrassed to wear this shirt.   Pop Punk was being bastardized, and Face to Face was putting out some not so good records right before there break up.  There would be times when i would go to put it on and then think, nahh, i got something cooler i bet.
Funny thinking how some shit really does age a little better with time.  Big Choice was a fucking good record, i go back and listen to it all the time and i can really still appreciate it.  it might even be there best record?  i dunno.  its a tough call cause the first record is pretty damn good but this one was produced much better.  i wonder how it will sound in another 10 years from now.
I used to work for MySpace back in the day, and now when i tell people its a lil embarrassing.  perhaps in 10 years that will have aged and be cool again :) nah.

Day #368 Mike Watt & the Crew Of Flying Saucers - Clam Blow Tour ‘95
Color: Brown
Brand: Anvil
Source:  It took almost a year of copying mike Watt on Tweeks and posts in hopes he would some day recognize my tributes to him.  until finally this week after the 365th post.  i got this from him:
damn..now i can’t find it..but ill sum it up for you. “you spelled D. Boons name wrong AND George Hurley’s”
Dud, way to go fucktard, what a retard i am.  i quickly changed it then he wrote back to me again and said..Jesus i think he deleted his tweets or something cause i can’t find any.  but in a nutshell in his way he said nice job, it was awesome.  so that was a big win for me.  this post is sucking so hard right now I’m just gonna quit for the day.  wah wah wah…

Day # 296 Good Riddance - For God And Country North American Tour 1995
Color: Black
Brand: American Apparel Heavy
Source: Taking advantage of a bother gloomy day here helps me plow through some of the long sleeve shirt pile that rarely gets to see the light of day.  I always feel weird wearing Long sleeve shirts as if I needed to wear an undershirt or something.  like i am wearing a button up shirt with no undershirt.  i can’t explain it but it makes me feel weird.  Perhaps my body is adjusted to 25+ years of wearing nothing but t-Shirts and the only time i don’t is when i wear some flannel or button up, but even then underneath i have a t-shirt on so i feel safe.  Maybe the T-shirt is my security blanket.  I never really thought of it that way, but it is very true.  I feel uncomfortable unless i have one on, awkward and a slight bit of anxiety.  Perhaps i should seek professional help for it.  although perhaps it is perfectly normal.  who cares?
Good Riddance does thats who.  I bet they would write some sort of protest song about it if they a had the same affliction.  ”500 Shirts, one torso”  or something like that.  Im stoked this band got back together i can’t wait to see them someplace.  but judging form the dates on the back of this shirt i may have to travel back to Santa Cruz to see them.  either they had a crappy booking agent, or they really hate the southern half of America.  One date in CA, on date in OR?  14 dates in Canada??? 3 in IL?  thats some “American” tour going on there.  jeez.  Perhaps the south wasn’t ready for the storm that they would unleash on them yet at this point.

Day: #241 Bracket - Can’t Make Me 1995 Europe Tour
Color: Red
Brand: Screen Stars Best
Source: If anyone out there enjoyed the previous Sicko post thinking “oh yeah i totally forgot about that band and how good they were!” will probably enjoy todays band/post.  Some of you may have come across this band on their random appearance on Fat Wreck comps here and there..and a few albums on the now defunct Caroline records label.  But this band was a del kept secret to most.  They shredded the pop punk scene in the early 90’s.  a great band with super hooky songs.  I don’t really know what went wrong here on this band, i mean other than them being on Caroline in the 90’s probably didn’t help.  I’m sure they got shelved when it came to Smashing pumpkins and Primus albums started taking off.  poor guys.  I was a real big fan of the debut 924 Forrestville, i listened to it on regular rotation, it Huge ballon was a staple to any of my punk mix tapes.  i feel like i must have sold at least 10 copies of this on my own just telling friends.
I only saw them a few times in my day, but this shirt i couldn’t resist as an eBay purchase. it is not only a great era (the 4 Wheel Vibe era) but it is just hands down a great shirt design.  Great.  I dunno, i hope this post dosent fall on deaf ears and someone out there really enjoys this and it makes them listen to a new band.  so much so that i put up TWO songs today, i couldn’t cho cho choose just one.
