Day: 466(6) Shirt: King Diamond - Them Color: Black Brand: Anvil Source:  Did you know King Diamonds real first name is Kim?  i don’t know what that is so funny to me, but it just makes me chuckle.  I know this shirt isnt that old but i dont give a fuck.  I love King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. I really do.  It holds the same spot in my heart as Slayer does.  It is in its own category, and can never be tarnished.  Back in the late 90’s when i used to work at a record store and it was closing time, it never failed there would always be 2-3 people still meandering through the store, browsing at their leisure.  Blissfully unaware that there were other people working in this store being held up by their ignorance and selfishness.  but i found a good cure for that scenario. Put on Mercyful Fate’s “Don’t Break The Oath” at say 11ish on the dial and just let King Diamonds operatic Metal vocals cascade through the store and into the ears of the douche in the suede jacket looking at Lionel Ritchie records, and the fat guy in the stained shirt looking at old Beatles vinyl. When they bother to come up and complain that this is unbearable..we said yeah we know, its our closing album.  I swear i must have listened to this album 400 times.   Only once did it not work when some dude looked up at the ceiling started bobbing his head and then walked up to the counter and bought the copy we used to play.  little did he know he just put a wrench in my plan.  as much as i was disappointed, i was stoked this guy was so invigorated by the sounds of King Diamond.   Go Kim!
