Day: 452
Shirt: AFI - The Art Of Drowning
Color: Black
Brand: [Tag Missing]
Source:  I have been a fan of this band since the beginning.  Not sure if any of you out side of Northern California Know what “the List” is but it was a show going bible when i grew up.  It was the raddest dude with a stache essentially making typed out flyers with every show on it for 300 miles.  i REALLY wish i knew where he is today, i would love to pick his brain Steve Koepke was his name i think.  I am not sure if any one realizes the gravity of his contribution to the Northern California Music scene or not, but it was grandiose.  I think i have seen Green Day A lot?  I saw him at every Green Day show i went to, so imagine the ones he went to that i didn’t attend.    Fuck it you know what i am going to look him up and write him and say thanks.  he deserves that at the every least.  if i had a minor thread shirt i would send him one of those too.
Man, what a tangent. my point being is that look at this list section of the list below.  i went to all 3 of these shows.  $6 and $8 for a ticket?  damn!   So this AFI was the “Answer That and Stay Fashionable record release show i think, or soon there after.   the next day i saw Jawbreaker, then i saw 7 Seconds.  no big deal right?
jun 2 fri 7 Seconds, Strife, Trigger Man at the Guild Theatre a/a $6 7pm ** jun 23 fri Jawbreaker, Fluf, Chinchilla at the Guild Theater a/a $8 *** jun 24 sat Swingin’ Utters, A.F.I. at the Guild Theater a/a ***
the Asterisks were his recommendations.  So Clearly he though AFI and Jawbreaker were going to be good shows and 7 Seconds he might have given up on a little for making Soulforce Revolution, and really who can blame him right?  I think 3 stars might have been the max you can get.  Dude was pretty spot on too.  he was what they call trustworthy.
See the beauty of the LIST is that it is more of an archive now than anything, i refer back to it more than anything now.  like for instance.  the shows i put up earlier i think were wrong.  well not wrong, that was correct.  I did go to those shows listed above.  BUT in my head i was thinkgin of a specific show, that was this show only 2 years later:
feb 15 thr The Vandals, A.F.I., Blink 182 at the Guild theater a/a ***
Pretty good line up huh? that was right when BLink changed their name to Blink 182 and man were they horrible sounding live!

If i had a way to transcode these Hi8 tapes i would have inserted some footage here of just how bad it was. I remember getting this camera and going on a filming phase at shows. they sounded horrible, but i thought i was being super documentarian or something. If anyone ever needs any footage let me know. EXCEPT todd Congillere of FYP because i sent him one of my Jawbreaker tapes and he never returned it, DAMN him
Jesus, this post isn’t about AFI at all is it. but to me this is what i think of when i wear this shirt. this small era of my life spent going to these shows and filming them. This was pre Davy being Goth, and Pre Hunter in the band (He was still in Circus tents at the time)
$6 and $8 dollar shows. The List. Sacramento. I guess being a kid in hindsight wasn’t all that bad.
