Source: I have gone on an on already about this record, and on and on and on about this band..but you have to give credit where credit is due. This record is fucking good. I wrote their manager twice to tall them, but i don’t think he cares..that i wrote that is not about this band. is part of this records greatness attributed to Bill Stevenson producing it? I want to think so, because he is in the studio right now with Alkaline Trio, and i want that shit to rub off on them too. Not too much Mojo i mean, i need Bill to keep a reserve for what ever album he plays on next be it Descendents or ALL.

but back to Self Entitled. while typing this up i found this dipshits review of this record on Punk News. who goes on to say he saw NOFX during the early 90’s to 40-50 people. come on now dude. RIbbed, and White Trash? are you fucking kidding me, that was them killing it. lets be real here. unless you lived in fucking Alaska, you are full of shit, just trying to play this band down to “back when they were cool”, and now they are “clearly on a downward trajectory”? the only thing on a downward trajectory here is your mentality. how many bands do you know that fucking live, no strike that THRIVE of of being a band only. Tour every year to sold out venues everywhere. how is that downward? Then you go on to pick apart songs piece by pice based on your person beliefs. you seem to be offended by the use of the word Whores. one of the world’s oldest professions, yet lets be PC about it. they are called call girls or Escorts now, would that make you feel better? guess what buddy. no one is really going to enlist an army of prostitutes and send them overseas to suck of a bunch off middle eastern cocks. its a song about the stupidity of being a bomber. so don’t get your PC panties in a bunch…the ladies are going to be just fine.

And If the word Whore offends you so much, or doesn’t please your “funny bone” why are you listening to NOFX, or better yet reviewing the fucking album? I bet NOFX has written more songs than you have written record reviews. lets go back and see how much of your writing is “lacking and doesn’t match up with previous work.” I am no tone to attack people here but what the fuck dude, it’s a NOFX album. what the fuck are you comparing it to? why do you feel the need to post such inane shit because you are not feeling it and already wrote this band off as “just another band these days.”

I don’t even know why i got so fired up about this review. i mean i do, because it is ignorance, and you think l would be immune to it these days but it never ceases to amaze me.

If i could ever bestow any advice to anyone is to tell you never to listen to any review ever. good or bad. they are all filled with personal bias’ and preconceived notions. people go into reviewing stuff most of the time knowing full well what they think of it before hand. but when it comes down to it, you the listener is the only opinion you should ever care about. not what i write here, the NY times, even Jesus Christ himself, or Garfield the cat. its all noize. if you enjoy something and it feels good, then listen to it. create an opinion for yourself. fuck what people think of you. but on the same token if your friend wants to listen to Wham! and you don’t like it, remember that they don’t carer what you think. Record reviews are fucking worthless. thats why i always try to put music in the bottom of these posts. cause i want you to listen and think for yourself. good or bad.
