Day: 442
Shirt: Mike Watt & the Jom and Terry Show - Time to Cat and Not Mouse 2001 tour
Color: Baby Blue
Brand: Fruit Of the Loom Heavy
Source: I spent a good portion of the day listening to headphones. a lot of that was spent listening to mike and his various projects. it never ceases to amaze me how many good bands this guy has played in. Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Mike Watt, the stooges, J Mascis + the Fog. Some people are blessed with talent, and some people like Mike got to Carnegie Hall the hard way. Practice , Practice , Practice. Last time i watched him play the guy didn’t even glance down at his bass once during the entire show. i think the bass by now is just an extension of his body.
the other portion of my day was spent hanging out with some interesting people that i never thought i would be saying, damn i really like those guys, but i did. it was the people who started a wine Club called Garagiste.
I think why i enjoyed these people so much, is that believe it or not, these guys were very punk rock in their ethics, and ethos. it was a “why is this done this way” mentality. bucking the system, of regularity, and questioning why things are done the way they are done, and if they don’t work why not try to change them. Mind you i dont drink wine, but i can get down with people who are passionate about what they do and do it sometimes to the point that people get angry or offended. But I always think, A: you can never make everyone happy, and B: if you are not ruffling a few feathers along the way, you are not contributing much to society.
