Shirt: NOFX - Punk In Drublic
Color: Navy Blue
Brand: Hanes Heavyweight
Source: This Record is fucking epic. unlike yesterdays post, this record is a fine bottle of wine that ages well, and anytime i want to pop it open to drink it it tastes good. Its funny cause in my head i think oh, this is the last NOFX record that was amazing, then i realize, nope. there were many more after this. which in turn gets me way more amped on the record that i am currently listening to. Making me remember why i like this band so much in the first place.
which brings me to the thought i had this morning when i put this shirt on. I wasn’t thinking about Punk In Drublic as much as i was the new record they just put out entitled, “Self -Entitled”. A Record which i think is the best thing they have done since 2000. It is really fucking good and has every element in it that makes for a good NOFX record. Part of it is religiously filled with the aspects of “i don’t believe in prayer but i believe in worship”. Its politically fueled with songs about Taliban and the 72 Virgins, and time traveling back to poke fun at Ronald Regan, because..well maybe cause it made a great shirt! (still waiting for mine Kent!)
then there are more song of introspection of ones self, that touch selling, out, kissing ass, and more. But i have to say that the songs i enjoy the most are when Mike gets personal, and speaks from raw experiences. there is a song on like track 11 clearly mike tried to bury that is really good about his recent divorce and parting with his record collection. a song that could only come from experience. its sad, and funny at the same time. my only problem with the song is a reference to a Fugazi picture disc, that I’m pretty sure never existed, unless it was some bootleg or something.. and Kent’s (the mangers) cameo on the song “My Sycophant Others” make me fuckign laugh every time. I think everyone has this person in their life they can relate to.
Anyways, i just wanted to write and say how much i really love this record, and how stoked i was to love it this much, its like a gift to my ears out of the blue. it wasn’t even their birthday either. A Good NOFX record a day keeps the audio ear cancer away!
