Brand: No Tag
Source: According to Wikipedia today is Generators Birthday! 20 years! woot woot!
Wow this brings back some flooding memories for me. Getting all excited about this record. A highly anticipated record for me to get my hands on. the follow up to my favorite record, Against the Grain, and unbeknownst to me the last record to come out on Epitaph before they would team up with Atlantic and cross over to the major label world. Not that that would really have any effect or bearing on my opinion of them, but it was just a turning point for that band. the label change that is, not Generator.
I think when i bought this i wanna say the New Dag Nasty Album “Four on the Floor” came out about the same time, and i’ll be honest i was a little saddened by that release (at that time) but i slowly came around to the kitchyness of it all later and learned to like it, not love it. my point being is had that record been epic i might not have payed as much attention to Generator. I focused all my attention towards Generator and really loved it. every song almost. It was going to be hard to follow up not only Against The Grain, but No Control, but the band seemed to put out an album that was true, honest, and in tune with the Bad Religion sound.
The frist dose of this record i would get was off this split with Noam Chomsky called “New World Order”
Not the greatest way to get people sparked on your new jam by having the B-side be a political spoken word piece, but hey, it was 1992 we needed help. we had Bush Sr. in office, we needed all the help we can. I think this track might have even been an alternate version if my memory serves me correctly, probably a demo version. anyways…
This record killed it. It has been 20 years now, and it still makes me feel as good today as the day i first heard it. by far on top 5 Bad Religion albums to own. enjoy it. PS did dag nasty ever tour on that record and did i Miss it? hmmm, might be a good time to re-unite. hey, ill even take 20 year anniversary tour of Four on the Floor!
